Akasha laughed faintly as she heard him purr. “I seriously thought that I said not to get too comfortable…” She teased as she took her cloak off of her bag and threw it over her shoulders, shifting her bag back into place. She pulled her hood over her head and set out into the desert at a fast, yet gentle pace, so she wouldn’t bother Shade too much. “Mind if I shift you to my arms and run, or can you hold on in that form?” She asked softly. This light demoness wasn’t one for walking, she preferred to be running over the desert ground as fast as she could master. It was more exhilarating. It made everything more exciting. Not to mention that she could run for long periods of time, which helped.

He blinked at her a moment. ~I can run with you.~ He dropped to the sand and became the bay horse from before, tossing his head at her. ~Ready when you are.~ His ears pricked forwards in the excitment of the 'chase'. He loved racing, and would find this much more enjoyable if he thought of it in this way.

The light demoness nodded softly as she watched him become the horse. She patted his nose gently and smiled, though her eyes were alight with what seemed to be a hundred stars. “Okay…” She said softly, but she didn’t bother to warn him, she merely placed her cloak back into her bag. Getting to her feet, she pushed herself forward and set off, knowing that this would change the amount of time they had thought they would take to arrive… And she needed the head start, for he was fast as a horse.

He started off at an easy canter, staying just behind her, not overpowering her, but staying within her reach so that should some trouble arise, he was close enough to help out. Like this they ran for a good period of the time, and he was careful to keep a relatively even pace with her.

Akasha slowed to a walk only after she had stumbled and tripped head over heels into the sand. She picked herself back to her feet, her breaths coming in short gasps though she didn’t seem to mind the workout. She shook her head and cleared away the perspiration on her face with her sleeve as she continued forward. She looked up at the sun and smiled faintly. At least she wasn’t wasting too much energy, merely tiring herself out. “We should be there before sunset, maybe a few hours before, right?” She asked Shade as she looked over her shoulder, wanting to know if her internal cloak and map were functioning correctly.

He tossed his head again. ~Yes. That sounds about right.~ He nudged her shoulder gently. ~If you get tired, you can always ride. I don't mind.~

She smiled faintly as he nudged her shoulder and nodded gently. “Yeah… But my extra weight wears you down much swifter than when you don’t have anything on your back. I can walk for a bit, and once I’m back at full energy, I’ll be able to run again.” She smiled faintly as she draped an arm around the stallion’s neck, placing a bit of her weight upon him, but not enough to make much of a difference.

He snorted, but walked on in silence. If that was what she wanted, then so be it. Though he was a bit greatful that she didn't want to wear him out. It would make this journey much easier if he was at his full strength.

Akasha enjoyed the silence between them, for it wasn’t anything like the awkward silence that she had become accustomed to. It was more of a peaceful one. And that seemed to make her feel a bit more comfortable in his presence. Maybe Shade wasn’t like most other males that she had known throughout her life. Perhaps, in the end, she could trust him… But, then, for just how long would he be by her side? If she allowed herself to trust him, when he would leave, it would hurt. She didn’t want to feel any pain right away, she merely wanted to be able to have a stable life for the time being. But Akasha wasn’t one that would give up, even if pain was in the future. If she felt the need to trust him, she would trust him. There would be no more doubting herself!
After walking for a while, she felt as though she had enough energy to rush out in a full run again, and another faint smile danced upon her lips. “Thanks for following me Shade…” She whispered gently as she rested her head against his neck faintly. But she did so only for a moment before she was back walking by his side, her pace quickening gently. She patted him on the nose and darted off once more, her long legs taking her swiftly across the ground. She knew he would be right beside her soon. He reacted fast enough to all the times that she had tried to lose him.

Shade smiled inwardly, and shot off after her. As much as he enjoyed the warm feeling that spread through him at those words, there was a part of him that warned him to be rational. The Council was bound to call him off in a few days, then he'd be on to another job. However, the other side of him argued that this wasn't just a job anymore. He promised her that he'd protect her, right? And a promise was a promise. But promises are infantile. You can never keep every promise you make. But he'd keep this one. He promised her.

Akasha watched him out of the corner of her gaze, before pushing herself farther and faster. All this running was enjoyable, exhilarating, and even fun! She didn’t have to worry about anything besides her amount of energy and the ground under her feet. She could hear the sound of Shade’s hooves beating against the sand; it wouldn’t take them too long now, not if they kept this pace until they reached the port. “Come on Shade!” She called towards him, a faintly mischievous hint in her gaze. The sand started to shift under them faintly, though it wasn’t any drastic changes, it merely leveled the ground for a few moments. They wouldn’t have to race across rough sand; this would also cut back time, even if only by a few minutes. She would prefer to arrive there and be able to conserve some sunlight energy, before having to face the darkness again. She seriously didn’t know how long she would be able to run, but if she paced herself at a pace that she knew she could keep, it shouldn’t be that bad, or so the light demoness hoped.

He snorted in response and kicked into a gallop, zipping past her easily. ~Silly two-legger,~ he teased. ~You can't keep up with me.~ He tossed his head and slowed his pace, just enough so that he was just in front of her.

She laughed as he dashed off; merely forcing herself to go faster, despite the fact that she would most definitely be feeling her legs in the morning. The light demoness merely focused on pushing herself farther, faster, her gaze mostly upon the ground. “No fair!” Akasha called out laughing, if only she had a rope and not chains… And a large board. She could easily get Shade to pull her whether he wanted to or not. But, since she didn’t have those items, she merely continued onward, pushing herself into a swift sprint.

He slowed down so he was running side by side with her. He shook his head slightly, as they pressed on. Meanwhile, the sunlight dimmed continuously as they ran, and the sun was just starting to set by the time they reached the outskirts of the city. He slowed to a walk and finally stopped, before swinging his head around to look at her.

Akasha slowed to a walk, following him, though her breathing was quite jagged. She placed her hands upon her knees, not used to pushing herself to run so fast for so long. Her lungs were burning and her power starting to wane… The sun was starting to set which meant that she didn’t have much time to recover. Oh well. She ran her hands through her silver locks as she stood straight and pulled her cloak out of her bag. She had to remind herself not to do that too often, or she was going to drain herself much too quickly. The light demoness would never utter how glad she was that they had arrived. She didn’t know if she could keep up much longer. She had already been pushing herself to the peek of her strength. She opened her flask and took a quick swig before dipping most of the contents upon her face, head, and neck, shaking her head after doing so. “Do we try to find a boat first, or do we find a place to rest first?” She asked, her voice soft, though it was easy to tell that she was still quite out of breath.

He sidestepped to stand closer to her, and softly exhaled through his nose on her neck. ~Take a moment to rest. Then we'll find someplace to stay for the night so you don't have to travel while weak. Besides, I don't think there are any ships that are leaving at this hour.~ He shifted back to his human form, relishing the swell of power he felt in the growing darkness. He settled a hand gently on her chin, tilting her head up to look at him. "Can you make it to town?" he asked her, concern flickering in his eyes breifly.

The light demoness felt his warm breath upon her neck and it sent shivers down her spine. The last thing she needed was to feel the wind now that she had soaked herself, but she didn’t truly care. “Yeah, I know about the boat thing, I was merely thinking reserve.” She said softly as she stared at the ground. She felt his hand upon her chin and she looked up at him, staring into his gaze. “Yes, I do believe I can. I am only out of breath.” She said gently, messing up her hair faintly before giving him a soft smile. “I’m tougher than I act at times.” Akasha said as she merely waved her hand in front of her, as though telling him to lead the way.

He frowned slightly, but nodded. "If you say so. Just, tell me if you start feeling really weak, okay?" He gave her one last look, before he started walking into town.

The female went in step with him, following right behind him as she pulled her hood over her eyes, becoming nervous once more. She hated cities, and large crowds of people, and this caused her to walk a bit closer to Shade than she usually would have. She allowed the shadows to cover her gaze, where only mistrust could linger as she looked at the people around her. “Okay…” She said as the faint coldness within her tone came back once more. The light demoness merely wanted to find a place where she could escape all the people, even if only for a few more moments.

He weaved through the thinning crowds effortlessly, and led her towards a rather comely looking inn. He led her inside, and spoke with the man at the desk. Shade slipped the man a small purse, and accepted a key from him, before returning to Akasha's side.
"It was the last suite he had. Apparently, there's something going on in town, so there's been an influx in people. You can have the bed, and I'll crash on the couch." He took her elbow gently and pulled her up the stairs. "We can catch the first boat out in the morning."

Akasha watched as he got them a room before turning her gaze around the place, looking at the people. Before she knew it, she felt his hand upon her elbow, pulling her towards, and up the stairs. His words were just registering in her mind, and she followed him swiftly. Suite…? Why a suite? She wondered, though it could have easily been the last room they had left. “First boat out, got it…” She said as she snapped herself back to attention. She had been concentrating on the fact that the sun was going down, she could feel it, and somewhere in her mind, she welcomed the darkness. “If the bed is big enough Shade, we can share it… I don’t bite, and besides, you’re here to protect me, not to harm me, right?” She said with a faint smile upon her shadowed lips. Yup, she was certainly throwing her trust in him, which shocked her faintly. But, while her mind was weakened from exhaustion, she wasn’t going to question herself.

He arched a brow at her carefully, before unlocking the door and stepping inside the room. He glanced around quickly, before moving asided to allow her in.
The room was relatively small, with a single bed and a couch, as well as a tiny kitchen area, complete with an ice box. He set his small pack down on the couch, along with his cloak, and sighed softly as he flopped down onto the seat.

She noticed as he arched his brow and she arched hers in return, though she entered the room. She sat herself at the edge of the bed and took off her boots, being careful not to harm herself with her daggers. Allowed her chains to fall to the floor, she rolled them up neatly as she looked around the room, falling into old habits rather quickly. “Nice room.” She said softly as she took her bag off of her shoulder and placed it upon the ground, gently placing her chains and weapons on top of it. She toped it all off as she piled her now neatly folded cloak on top of the rest of the pile and stood up, stretching her arms above her head, before walking to the window, and looking outside. “Nighttime soon…” She muttered to herself, though eagerness gleamed within her gaze.

"Mm," was his only response as he sunk lower into the couch. His amethyst eyes shut halfway, and he allowed warmth to spread through his body after murmuring a small spell. Mmhmm, this was very comfortable...and he was so tired.....maybe he'd take a little nap...

The light demoness smiled faintly as she looked over her shoulder, noticing him half-asleep. Akasha walked softly towards the bed and allowed herself to fall upon the mattress, her eyes going towards the ceiling. Even though she was physically exhausted, she merely didn’t feel the need to sleep. Her mind was too awake, too alert… Instead, she decided to stay silent, merely gazing into the distance.
