Calmly Akasha walked, a cloak draped over her shoulders with a hood well pulled over her eyes, blocking out the sunlight. She could feel it give her energy, the energy that she had lacked for a while, yet its light was too piercing to her, now sensitive, eyes. Her gaze jumped from one thing to the next, and yet, they didn’t truly stop at anywhere. They continued to travel back and forth, never ending their inquiring journey. She felt tired, weak, and most of all, happy to be home. She knew that this place wasn’t known for its kind people, and yet, nothing could be worse then where she had been.
A shiver went through her body as she kept her cloak about her. The heat, it was much stronger then she had remembered it being, and yet, she couldn’t help but get the feeling that this was just one large nightmare, and that she would wake up, where she had been not too long ago.
With each footstep, her chains rustled faintly, and her gaze went back towards the ground. She was disgusted by her own appearance; she appeared to be almost sickly thin, even though she had escaped more then two months ago. She still hadn’t gathered the energetic look that she had once had. Yet in her mind, she knew that she wouldn’t be the same person as she had been a few years ago. Yet her eyes glimmered faintly as she approached the city borders.
“Home sweet home…” It was all that she uttered as she walked into the city, her footsteps seeming to falter faintly as she headed down a street. Her head turned this way and that way, searching for something familiar. She no longer knew her way around, and yet, her own pain made her smile. This was the first time that she had arrived home, and the light demon had to admit, she had no idea where to go.

He'd been following her for a while now. He had been paid handsomely to keep an eye on her until They were sure she would pose no threat. He managed to keep a good distance from her, and out of her range, apparently, because he had remained undetected, slipping through the shadows in the ruins of the fallen cities.
Feron had once been a country much like Mirlan, full of life and energy, with it's own school, even, that rivaled the great University in Mirlan. He remembered how it used to be, here in Feron, before he had left. This was the first time he'd returned here since the Falling.
That's what the Council and the history books called it: the Falling of Feron. The group of rebels known as the F'zhra (the Wind People) came in and desimated village after village in the wake of the largest sand storm in history. The Council decided that it was beneath them to trifle with the rebel group; they didn't want a war. So, the people of Feron were slaughtered, and the rebels took over the land, engaging any outside force in battle.
The darkness shifter tugged the edges of his cloak around his face, hiding his amethyst eyes and delicate, refined nose. His task was almost complete, and soon the man known as Shade could return to his normal duties, not babysitting a former exile.

Akasha felt eyes upon her, and suddenly she stopped, her hands going to the chains mysteriously attached around her waist. Her delicate hands wrapped around one of the two chains, her gaze going towards her back. She felt watched, as she had felt for the longest while. Yet now, she was sick of being followed. She wasn’t someone that was going to go on a killing spree. She had been placed inside that cursed country by accident, her own mistake. And trying to find a way to get out… Well, she had almost paid for that with her life.
The odd light demoness turned around slowly, her gaze jumping from one person to the next as she looked at the people, seeming to try and find her way. She couldn’t tell who was following her, and she doubted that she would be able to find out, without becoming conspicuous. Yet it mattered not, for if she wanted to survive, and not be brought back there, she was willing to fight, and to kill whoever tried to get her.
She turned around quickly, pulling her cloak lower around her head as she started to walk down the street, at quite a fast pace. She wanted to see her follower, and if she had to appear suspicious, then so be it. Akasha soon went into a run, dashing down the street, following only her instinct as she turned down another street, nearly crashing into someone a few times. Fast little one she seemed to be, as her cloak rushed out behind her, her hood merely staying upon her head, thanks to four fingers holding it there.
So much for being weak and tired, those thoughts were quickly set into the back of her mind as she continued to rush down the city’s streets. Gray eyes danced from one side of the road to the other as she rounded another corner and leaned against a house wall, waiting to see if she was being followed… Waiting to see who would turn that corner chasing her if she was. And whoever was following her better be giving her answers, or it would be to her chains that they would have to answer.

Shade wasn't stupid. He slipped to the rooftops, following her that way. The shifter could hide easily among the people if he wanted, without having to worry about losing her; she could never escape a skilled tracker like him. He shifted his bones to a lighter weight, birdlike, so that he could move faster and go farther without expending so much energy. He dropped to a crouch as she leaned against the wall, sharp purple eyes simply watching. He meant her no harm; but he had to complete his task, if he wanted the cash.

She cursed under her breath as she waited, her gray eyes darting all about as she held the chains in her hand, her knuckles now white. She looked around and noticed a weapon shop near by. She smiled. Good, I need my weapon back… she thought to herself, but then remembered that she needed money to be able to pay for that weapon. But an innocent grin appeared on her face. Who said that she couldn’t mere ‘borrow’ it and forget to give it back. She merely shook her head though, for someone was after her, and she had to keep a low profile. At least, for now.
Akasha pushed herself away from the wall and walked into a large crowd of people, feeling her hatred towards most of the people around her soar through her mind. How she hated being in this situation. She wanted to kill the jerk that had placed her into that cursed place. She hadn’t done anything wrong back then, and now, if she ever slipped, she would be back.
Sighing to herself, she noticed a bakery and looked around as she walked within the doors to the place. It was bad enough that she was living the life of a pickpocket now, since she had gotten out of Klyera. She stopped at the counter, buying a few pastries. She didn’t even bother to haggle the price. It was the last thing on her mind in truth, and she merely gave up the money as she listened to the conversations around her. She needed the food, and she wanted to find out if she could find who was following her. She knew she could get into a lot of trouble, but this was ridiculous. She had just walked back into her hometown, and already she felt as though someone wanted her out of it.
Yet it didn’t take the light demoness long to decide against staying inside. What kind of fool, knowing that the person knew that they were being followed, would just run into such an obvious trap? At all costs, she didn’t want to go back to that torturous place. The people were mean, there had been a major lack of sunlight, and she had been forced to do physical labor most of the day. Well, at least she had gained the knowledge that she was strong enough when fighting. All in all, she was surprised that she had survived as long as she had.
Once more she cursed the fact that she had been framed, that it had all been one large mistake, and she had made the wrong choice while defending herself. She had decided to run and not to stand her ground. But she hadn’t known much better then, now she did.
Silently and lost in thought she finished her meal, her gaze resting upon the table as she got back to her feet and walked outside. It felt great to be home, now all she had to do was not shoot accusing glares at everyone that passed beside her. But something wasn’t right again; she could hear footsteps behind her. And as she slowed, so did the footsteps. She knew she was being followed now, but having it right at her heels wouldn’t do. Slowly she kept her attention upon those footsteps, pulling her cloak tighter around her as her hand once more gripped the links tightly.
The steps sped up, and so did her own. The only problem with this was that she didn’t know where she was going. Any street could become a dead end, and she would have no idea. It was the last thing on her mind though, and she continued forward, her legs going out into a run as the footsteps beat down behind her. She could feel the hair on the back of her neck rising with every turn that she took, running blindly down the streets. Great, I’m home for a few minutes, and I’m already in trouble over my head… She thought to herself as she turned down another street, seeing a dead end before her. Just peachy… She thought as she felt a rather powerful tug upon her chains, easily pulling her backwards.
“What the… What do you think you are doing!?” She yelled out as she turned around and stopped, needing to look up to the man that was around six and a half feet tall.
“What’s a young girl doing walking around this town on her own?” The rough voice of the other answered her, amusement in his eyes as he stood, tall, almost proud.
Akasha just stared at him, wanting with all her might to swipe that cocky air away from him. “None of your business.” She voiced coldly, as she gave a rather hard tug upon her chains, though it wasn’t strong enough to make them fall out of the man’s hands. This seriously isn’t my day… You do not want to mess with me today… She thought angrily, her eyes shooting daggers at the man. This was one of the many reasons why she despised them so. They only thought that they could take advantage over a female.
“Let’s make it my business.” He said as he forcefully pushed her into the wall, his hand about her neck as he pulled harshly at the chains around her waist, feeling them come undone. “There is no room for the weak in Feron, deary.” He chuckled as he raised the chains high, getting ready to strike her. He swung the chain downwards.
She lifted her left hand and caught the chain, half tempted to bite the man. Instead, she quickly brought her right hand upwards and cracked him in the crook of the elbow. Though he released her, she wasn’t going to try to pull her chains away from his grip and give him time to react. Instead, she wrapped her hand around the chain and punched him. Allowing the chain to fall from her grip, she turned around and started running again, all she needed was her distance. Just a bit of distance and she could fight. But… That guy didn’t seem to be one that liked being attacked, for as soon as she went to turn around, she felt herself knocked to the ground, the breath being torn from her body as her back collided with the hard earth. Now she knew she was in trouble…

Shade let a soft swear slip from his mouth as he dropped to the ground in an alleyway. He changed his facial appearance to mimic one of a person native to Feris, before he stepped out and broke into a run himself. He caught up easily, and grabbed the man by his collar, yanking him back and away from Akasha.
"What do you think you're doing?" he hissed at the man, letting ferocity and anger drip from his voice like honey.

The man whirled around and faced the other, his eyes flaring. He had just ruined his fun. He glared angrily and laughed faintly. “Merely fooling around.” He said calmly, as his hand tightened into a fist. “Leave, you have nothing to do with this.” He growled angrily, his gaze split between the two now near him. This man was a nuisance. All he had to do was end with this one, then go back for the girl.
Akasha looked as the man was brought away from her, hissing faintly between her lips as she noticed another male. Why did it always have to be males?! She could have handled herself. Yet she wasn’t going to say anything as she slowly picked herself up upon her elbows. She slowly picked herself up, dusting her pants as she stood up, pulling her last chain away from her hip as she stood there, the weapon lying gently against the ground, as her hand turned ever so faintly. Slowly, ever so slowly, she brought up the chain, ready to hurt the both of them if they even came her way.
The man only noticed the girl get to her feet before he closed his fist and took a swinging punch at Shade, wanting this guy away from him, and away from him fast.

Shade's physical form melted and he became liquid silver, sliding along the packed sand to reform behind the man. All this happened in a split second and the shifter slammed an elbow in the middle of the man's spine, while he swung his leg out to catch the front of the man's shin. The man was large enough that this simple movement would send him flying forward into the dirt, hopefully smashing his face into the ground. As soon as the man landed, Shade pressed a foot onto his neck.
"You should know better than to do something so stupid as to fight a shapeshifter," he hissed in the man's ear, pressing down mercilessly on his neck.

The man glared daggers towards the other, his eyes enough to cause damage. “You shall pay!” He yelled out as much as he could, though barely any sound came out of his throat. Fire suddenly rose up from his hands, as the man, who was apparently a fire demon, shot flame towards the man’s leg, hoping to burn it off.
Akasha noticed the brute strength of both men and wrapped her chains around her waist as she turned away and took this chance to run again. She would have to find another chain for her waist, but that was the last thing on her mind as she rushed away, making as much distance between her and both men as she could. This was her chance.
“Your victim's getting away…” The other man laughed faintly as he assumed that the man was after her for himself, for he had stopped him from getting her. He wrapped his hand around the male’s foot, his steel grip tightening. Right now, if he could only harm the Shapeshifter for a moment, he would be able to catch that female.

The fire flickered around the shifters, but did not burn. The part of him that was demon controlled the flame easily enough. A cold, icy voice whispered in his ear again, as even colder steel touched the back of his neck. "Not every man is like you." With that, he increased the pressure on the blade, cutting easily through layers of skin.

The man felt the blade against his neck, and heard the words, and then, all he felt was a sudden pain, and then nothing.
Akasha rushed through the streets, her strides taking her quickly across the distance as she neared the edge of the town, quickly rushing into the desert. She had to get out of this area, she wasn’t safe here. She would never be safe, not as long as she had men in her life. All she had to do was run now, despite the dangers of the desert, especially in pure day. She didn’t care if the desert consumed her. She knew that she was weak, and running out of strength, but running away from them was the best thing she was capable of doing. All she had to do was keep one step ahead.

He pulled the blade away, wiping it clean on the man's clothing, before hiding it away in the folds of his cloak. He manipulated the fire that had clung hungrilly to his leg and set the corpse ablaze, before turning in the direction that Akasha had fled. He would have to find her soon, for if she was in the desert too long, everything would go wrong. Besides, who knew what she would do when she was unsupervized? He shifted to a kaimaei (camel), and started off down the street at a gentle pace. He would find her...and be able to keep her safe without her knowing that it was him.

Akasha continued to rush through the desert sand, her cloak pulled over her head to protect her from the sun, and still she could feel its harsh glare through the material. She hadn’t been expecting this, and yet, what else could she expect, she was in a desert. She loosened her cloak faintly and kept going forward, her eyes set upon the sands as she prayed that there would be an Oasis near by, with a few trees. She would be able to hide in the shade there, or at least, for a while. Then she would have to find a place where she could escape her life, and go where no one would try to follow her. And if she was lucky, a place where men didn’t live! That would be heaven. All she had to do was keep on running.
Would there ever be a break in the sand? A smudge of some sort on the horizon indicating something different than sand? It was all she could see in every direction except for the one she came from. She knew that running into the desert had been her only choice, but she also knew that she wouldn’t get far without shade and water at the very least, both which seemed to be extremely scarce at the moment. If she didn’t find any sort of water soon, she knew that she wouldn’t last too long before dehydration got to her.

There, he could see her, still running, but straight into the desert. Idiot. She would get herself killed that way. He shook his head as Shade-kaimaei clopped after her, as if he was merely a camel on it's way towards the desert. He would catch up with her soon, but this distance was good enough for now.

Her pace slowed ever so gently as she continued to stride through the desert, her body no longer used to the intense heat. Before, this would have been nothing, and now, just the intense heat and the harsh glare of the sun seemed to bother her. Slowly she hesitated and went into a walk, deciding to conserve her energy as she took off her hood, basking in the energy that the sun gave her as she raised her head towards the sky. Many unhealed scratches and a few faint scars could be seen upon her neck and arms as she raised her hands above her head. The sun’s glare was too fierce for her, and, yet, she needed it, wanted to enjoy it.
The wind rushed through her cloak, made her hair fly in the wind, and, it forced her eyes to close as sand whirled around her. But as she opened her eyes, she was back to her dark self, despising the world around her with some unknown hatred. Her head lowered as she pulled her hood back over her eyes and continued to walk forward, as the sight of lush green plants showed in the corner of her eyes. She smiled faintly and headed towards what she knew was an oasis. One moment of rest, that was all she could ask for. But, yet… What else would happen to ruin it? Would those males catch up with her once more? Would she be able to survive on her own, now that she was thrown back into the cruel world, after having survived a crueler place? So many wisps of thoughts roamed through her mind. She knew. Her life would never be the same again. She could no longer be carefree. Ever. She had lived, and living had its price. If only she could have escaped what she despised. Yet no. If she had wanted to live, she knew that she had to face this world with her head held high. Ever so silently, and lost deep in thought, Akasha walked towards the Oasis, her cloak pulled tight about her again, as she tucked light-blue strands of hair behind her ears. Today was one more day in this world. Another day where she had to breathe and survive by running… Her own living fear.

He kept up his loping pace, and passed her, beating her to the oasis. He dipped his head into the water, feeling the cool liquid trickle down his throat. Once he had his fill, he turned his head to glance back at her, as if saying, 'Well? What's taking you so long?'

She froze as something passed her, her nimble fingers wrapping around the links once more and noticed that it was only a kaimaei. She walked forward, ignoring it all together as she kneeled down beside the water, slipping her hands into the cool liquid as she brought some to her lips, barely taking a full drink. She silently took off her flask from her hip and filled it with water, looking at the kaimaei suspiciously. What would it be doing, merely staying there? She was something that could kill it, and still, it was there. She didn’t like that thought, an animal having less fear than her.
She silently pulled her cloak around her, staying near the water as she created her own shade, protecting herself from the sun. She merely glared at the animal from underneath her hood, her cold eyes slowly closing as she tried to block herself from the harsh glare. This was going to be a long wait until night…

Shade-kaimaei snorted and trotted over towards her, unsatisfied with her just sitting there. He bumped her shoulder with his nose, and grazed the fabric of her cloak with his teeth. He gave another snort, before bumping her again, this time a little more forcefully.

It touched her! She couldn’t believe it as she shot another death-glare at the kaimaei. The stupid creature touched her, and now it dared to pull on her fabric and push her around! She tapped her foot on the ground as she grabbed her cloak and pulled it around her body tighter. “Annoying leech.” She hissed through her teeth as she pushed herself to her feet, still glaring at the animal.
A smile danced upon her lips for the briefest of moments, before sand whirled around her, not to mention mingling with a bit of water as she threw it at the creature. Nope, she certainly wasn’t a friendly one, of course not. But she didn’t like this thing looking at her.
Once back upon her feet, she looked at the Oasis and sighed. “That was a waste of perfectly good water… I mean, I must have drained one third of it.” She sighed deeply. It had been too long since she had used her abilities; they were kind of rusty, just a bit out of her control.

Shade-kaimaei merely blocked it, but allowed the sand and water to come crashing down on him, so that it wouldn't seem like he had used magic. He shook himself off, and nudged her again, pushing her bodily forward, towards the desert. Then he gave her a look that said, 'You're wasting valuable time just standing here trying to scare me away.' Well, perhaps not that much, but it was implied.

She just stared at it, glowering angrily. What was it, her guardian kaimaei or something?! She didn’t even think those existed. “Fine! I’m going.” She hissed angrily as she pulled her hood lower upon her face, blocking the sunlight from touching her skin. She walked towards the desert, her steps light and nimble, despite her obvious anger. Perhaps if a sandstorm started she could lose it… But she didn’t remember how to survive in those anymore… Something about jumping to the ground, covering yourself, and waiting it out. Besides that, she was clueless, yet she did wish that one would just pop up. If only to give her a moment’s peace from this, this thing! “Now go, I’m walking away, shoo!” She said firmly as she headed forward again, guiding herself by her instinct, but knowing better than to run.

He seemed determine to ruin her day as he followed her into the desert, and clamped her cloak (but not her) in his teeth and tugged. He gave her an annoyed look, and knelt to the ground beside her, to allow her easy access to his back. He gave her another look, which said 'Will you hurry? Haven't got all day, you know.'

Akasha felt the tug on her cloak, and whirled around, seeing it giving her one of the many looks she had given it in the past few moments. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes, seeming to get ready to get upon his back, but instead, she pulled off her cloak and wrapped it around his head. She merely walked away, allowing her pale skin to face the sun. She was a light demon, sunlight was good for her, and, yet, she despised it so much. “Keep it if you want it so badly!” She yelled over her shoulder, her hands pulling the chain off of her waist as she wrapped it around her hand, ready to attack the animal if it got close to her again. Her patience was almost non-existent.

He shook off the cloak, and snorted, before rising and trotting after her again. This time, he pushed her forward, hopefully with enough force to push her to the ground. He skittered a bit of a distance away, so she couldn't hit him, and snorted.

Before she knew what touched her, she felt her body being pushed towards the ground as her arms rushed out to stop her fall. She felt the burning sands and quickly jumped to her feet, rubbing her painful arms. “That hurt…” She muttered to herself as she unwrapped the chains and started to swing it gently around her. She wasn’t doing anything fancy, just enough movement to keep the thing away from her. If it came near… WHACK! She felt as though it was laughing at her, and that only fueled her anger. Was she so weak, after being shoved into that place for so long, that she had become one of those petty maidens waiting to be saved? I think not! She told herself as she continued forward, feeling the sun beating upon her bare shoulders, as though trying to force her down. But right now, she had a fight with a kaimaei in store.
