She sat up gently as she felt his pace changing to a trot, and readied herself to jump off his back as soon as he arrived into a walk. She could feel him panting, and she gently patted his neck, as she felt him shake. A smile was upon her lips as she gently placed her hands upon his whither and shifted her left leg over to the right side before allowing herself to fall to the ground, her knees bending upon impact. She ran her hand across his neck to steady herself as she shook her head, allowing her hair to fall any way it deemed it wished to fall. She allowed her hand to run along his neck. “Should have slowed down if you knew you were going to overtire yourself. You were running through a desert.” She teased softly as she scratched the tip of his muzzle before pulling her hood over her head. Her face seemed to go serious as she looked at the town. “I’m probably going to stop at my parent’s home… I need some things…” Akasha spoke gently, her tone becoming almost cold, yet, oh so very, distant. It was evident how much she closed up when around people, or at least strangers. “Come, there is plenty of water at my parents and it should only be a walk of about a few minutes… Think that you can breathe without dying of lack of air until then?” She inquired, willing to carry him if he turned into a smaller animal if she needed to, but she wouldn’t voice that opinion.

Almost as if he read her mind, he shifted to a small ermine, and crawled up her cloak to curl around her neck. ~This is easier...and I don't think that your family would take too well to the idea of some strange man travelling with you.~ He made a soft purring sound, vibrating his body against her neck. ~Just let me know if this is uncomfortable for you or not...it's helping me breath better.~

The light demoness smiled faintly as she saw him shift and crawl into her hood to rest around her neck. “Don’t worry about it, take a break.” She laughed faintly as she headed towards the town. She walked swiftly once she hit the streets, shying away from large crowds as she took every alleyway to get away from the hustle and bustle of the life around her. She silently walked up to a humble looking home and tried to door, just to find it locked. “For crying out loud! You’d think that after a century they would be home to welcome me for once.” She muttered in annoyance as she walked around the back of the house. She looked up at the window on the top floor and swiftly started to escalade the wall. No matter how many years she had been away from this house, the foot holds that she had created secretly still remained, and she still remembered how to use them. Arriving at the window, she gently pushed it open and slid into her old room, as she ditched her cloak upon the bed.
A scythe rested upon the walls, and many other chains were wrapped neatly near by. It was easy to see her weapons of choice, as she placed her hand upon Shade and jumped upwards, and pulled down a stair case to get into the attic. She climbed it nimbly and raced across the beams, her movements gentle and swift as she opened up a crate and got out a punch of money, which she had hidden here years ago. After closing the crate, she rushed back across the ground and slid down the ladder, and putting it away before digging into her closet for clothes. Her styles had never truly changed, and the clothes within her closet were new, proving that her parents had expected her to come some day soon. “Okay, I need to change, there should be food downstairs, and I’ll write them a note explaining that I came and that they weren’t home. Make yourself at home… I should be long.” She said as she placed him upon her bed and walked through her door into the hallway to go into a different room to get changed, and probably to wash up.

In his ermine form, Shade slipped from her bed to the ground, and skittered downstairs, wandering through the rooms until he found the kitchen. He searched around a bit, until he found some water, and lapped at it greedily, giving a soft sigh as the cool liquid trickled down his throat. Ah...much better. He scrambled over towards a cabinet and slipped into it, finding a few strips of dried meat to his joy. He nibbled on the strips, and waited to hear any sounds from Akasha that she was finished. Gentle booted footsteps could be heard gently going down the stairs, as Akasha treaded softly down the stairs, her wet hair clinging to her face and nape. Klyera had helped her learn to get ready fast, so where some people took twenty minutes to clean up, she took about five. She looked around the kitchen curiously, trying to find where Shade was, but she couldn’t see him. “Shade…?” She called out curiously as she placed her hand upon the cupboard and turned around, as she placed her backpack against the counter and draped her cloak over it. “Where are you?” She called out curiously, as she leaned against the counter, and waited to here a sound from him.

He slipped silently from the cupboard he had hidden in, which was behind her. He shifted to his humanoid form, and approached her from behind. "Worried that I left you?" he murmured softly in her ear, a smirk playing on his face. He reached past her to snag a piece of fruit from a bowl in front of her, which he bit into with a grin.

Akasha jumped as she felt his presence behind her and whirled around just to see him standing right behind her. She let out her breath, which she had been holding, though she had recognized his voice. “Don’t do that… You know I’m edgy enough as it is. But no, actually I was worried that you had harmed yourself…” She muttered softly though there was a grin upon her face as she said so. She nudged him gently before turning around and grabbing a fruit for herself. She smirked faintly as she looked at him. “You’re blocking my counter seat…” She winked with an innocent grin.

He brushed a few wayward locks of hair from his eyes as he grinned slyly at her. "Really? Careful, Akasha, you're letting yourself actually care about my wellbeing." He made a small 'tut tut' noise, before winking in return. "And where is this seat you speak of?" he asked, looking around as if he didn't see it.

The light demoness rolled her eyes faintly, though she kept her grin upon her face. “Oh shush… I’m not that insensitive.” She muttered softly as she looked at the ground, not looking him in the eye. She could only laugh faintly as he said that he couldn’t find the seat. “It’s right behind you shifter…” She said in a matter of fact tone. She was merely tempted to walk beside him and jump up, but he had stolen her seat, and this light demoness was hardheaded enough to get it back.

He took another bite of the fruit, and leaned against the counterspace again. "Hm...well, I'm quite comfortable where I am, so you'll have to find another seat." He shrugged noncholantly, and flashed her a smirk.

She eyed him faintly as she stuck her tongue out at him. “I’ll just lean against you.” She said as she leaned against his arm and placed her foot against the counter beside him. She wasn’t fully leaning against him, but her back was clearly placed against his side, placing most of her light weight against him. She merely continued to eat. Yup, hardheaded she was, and she didn’t give up too easily. She wanted her seat, whether she actually needed it or not. It was more of a habit than anything else. And in truth, she did feel comfort knowing that someone was there to protect her.

He lifted his shoulders in a light shrug, and bit into the fruit again. "As you wish," he said, proceeding to ignore her, and finish off the fruit in a few bites. After a few minutes, he moved suddenly, dumping the core of his fruit in the garbage receptical, and shifted back to his ermine form. He scooted across the room and climbed up her leg, crawling around her waist, then climbing up to her shoulder, where he curled himself around her neck again. ~Well? Are you done lollygagging? We should probably find someplace to stay for the night.~

As he shifted, and she lost her leaning post, she fell against the counter, only her foot stopping her from crashing downwards. She watched him cling her leg and finally reach her neck where she petted him gently. “Silly, we are at my parents’ home.” She said with a faint laugh as she looked downward at him, feeling her wet hair against her nape now that he had leaned against it. She gently moved her hair away and leaned back against the counter. “They shouldn’t be home any time soon. The house looks to clean, so they couldn’t have left much longer then two days ago… and they are gone for weeks… trust me… climbing through my window was my daily exercise when I lived here.” She said with a faint laugh as she picked him up off her neck and merely held him in her arms. For the simple reason that he would get wet thanks to her hair, and then she would only get wetter with him wet. “We can spend the night here, relax and be safe, unless you really want to leave as soon as possible…” She stated as she left the sentence hanging, waiting for his reply.

Could she make him feel more like an idiot? Honestly. He sighed softly in her arms, and adjusted his head to a more comfortable position. ~If you say this place is safe, then I believe you. We will stay here as long as you feel is safe or necessary, then we will move on. It is not a good idea to remain in one place for too long.~ He stuck his wet nose inbetween her fingers, and gave them an experimental lick, before sneezing in that animalistic way.

Akasha smirked happily as he sighed. She knew that she had got him, but she wouldn’t allow herself to say it out loud. She merely ran her fingers through his fur, petting him gently as she listened to him speak. “Don’t worry; it will only be for the night. I would like to have an actual bed to sleep in tonight, even if that may not last long. But why wouldn’t it be safe? Is there someone after me?” She inquired as she felt his cold nose against her fingers, though she laughed as he licked her hand. How odd… She took nothing of it though and giggled childishly as she heard him sneeze. “You know, that form suits you… You are harmless, and actually kinda cute… But, you never heard me admit that.” She said with a wink. Her love for animals could easily be evident, but ten years had changed her way too much…

He nipped at her finger, not enough to draw blood, but enough to teach her that he could be cruel if he wanted to. ~Don't call me cute again. I'm not cute.~ He made that purring sound again when she began petting him. ~There's no one after you. But it's a general rule of thumb when one isn't familiar with one's surroundings.~

As soon as he nipped her finger, she stopped petting him and placed him on the ground. Her cold air was once again back around her as she gazed at him, her eyes emotionless. She could switch moods faster than most… “Fine, I’ll leave by morning.” She said coldly, turning her back to him as she swiftly cleaned up the kitchen counter. Well, she couldn’t even joke around without him warning her of the imminent danger that she was in while in his presence. It was no wonder that she despised men so much, and he was no different, in humanoid form, or in creature. And this seriously ticked her off. She had thought him different, but no, he was still like most other men that she knew, control freaks. She gripped her bag and slung it over her shoulder as she placed it against the door and swiftly took out a pen and a piece of paper before writing her parents a swift message saying that she had been caught up for the past few years, and that she apologized for not writing sooner. She also mentioned that she took a few of her things and folded it neatly and placed it upon the table. “I’m going outside to catch more sunlight… you can rest up if you want. There are plenty of spare rooms around.” She said as she unlocked the door and walked outside. Once she was outside, she merely leaned against the house and closed her eyes, as her breathing slowed. She merely had to relax, or this light demoness was going to become a danger to herself.

He watched her go, then scampered over towards the open window of the kitchen, slipping out and landing in the dirt outside. He crawled over to her, shifting into a cat, and rubbed his back against her legs, purring. ~I'm....sorry.~ The words sounded foreign to him, but he didn't want her to be upset with him; he didn't think he could bear the weight of it. ~Please...~ Here he faltered, and fell silent. He couldn't think of anything to say.

Akasha felt something rub against her legs purring, and for a moment she took it as a normal cat, but as it spoke to her, the light demoness knew differently. Steel gray eyes rose towards the sun as she stared at it, her voice void of expression. “No use apologizing for you being you.” She said harshly as she pushed herself away from the side of the house and walked towards the back yard, ready to crawl up the wall into her room if he didn’t just leave her alone. She was safe here; he had nothing to worry about, or at least, none that seemed to be evident. She knew that he hadn’t meant it, but her trust was rare and hard to attain. She rarely trusted someone twice.

He watched her go, tail flicking back and forth, before he let out a quiet sigh, and jumped back into the house, padding silently up the stairs and into her room, curling up on the bed. It hurt him more than he wanted to admit, her being angry with him. He closed his mind to the sudden flare of emotions. No. Stop it. Don't let this go any further. She'll be out of your hair in a few days, then you never have to think of her again. You can get on with your life. The absense of thoughts in his head soothed him into a gentle sleep. As with all half-breed shifters, his feline form faded when he slipped into sleep, leaving only his normal humanoid form, semicurled up in her bed.

She slumped against the wall of the house, calmly blocking the hurt feeling that tried to push its way into her mind as she stood there in utter silence. It wasn’t anger that she felt, it was hurt. She had trusted him, tried to tease him, to learn to live again, and he had bitten her. Even if it hadn’t truly harmed her, to know that he was capable of it was what bothered her. Would she ever escape the memories that threatened to take control of her mind? The light demoness hung her head as she enjoyed the sun rushing over her. But the joy seemed to be hallow, without a true feeling inside of it. As soon as the sun started to set, she walked back into the house and locked the door behind her. Taking off her boots she neatly packed her things by the door and walked silently towards her bedroom. She paused at the entrance and stood there, watching him sleep.
Silently walking down the hall, she pulled out a blanket from a closet and walked back into her room, covering him with it gently, making sure that she wouldn’t wake him. I know you’re sorry Shade… I am too… She thought silently as she turned around and looked down the hallway at her parents’ room. She was certainly not sleeping in their room; too many memories would flood her mind. Instead, she walked back downstairs and settled herself upon the couch, pulling her knees to her chest as she rested, her eyes wide open, staring at the ceiling, until slowly, sleep took her away into its realm.

He didn't awake until the next morning, and he was quite surprised to see a blanket draped over him. He didn't remember getting it in the middle of the night...So that means....
He slid his bare feet to the floor, then moved silently down the stairs, amethyst eyes flickering when he saw her sleeping. He watched her for a few moments, and then headed for the kitchen. He rumaged about for a few moments, as quietly as he could, and found what he wanted.
After about ten minutes, the sound of crackling meat and the smell of freshly cooked eggs and toast wafted through the house.

((Oops... Kinda big ^^'))
She moved in her sleep as Shade watched her, feeling eyes upon her, yet not waking up. In her mind, she knew that she was safe, and so, it mattered not who watched her sleep. But a few moments later, she could smell a delicious aroma drift through the air as the sound of cooking reached her ears. Something didn’t seem to be right… Who would be cooking? Her parents weren’t home! But, it all drifted back to her, as she remembered Shade, her thin line of trust having replenished itself after a night’s rest. She was merely untrusting of others, on a rather large scale. Anything could unsettle a trust that was just forming, even a mere mood swing, like she had taken the night before. She felt kind of bad about that, and she reminded herself to be sure to apologize about that later on. For now, she merely wanted to stay curled on the couch. She was ever so comfortable.
Slowly she pushed herself into a sitting position as she ran her hand through her hair. She looked out the window and almost hissed as a large beam of sunlight struck her. Of course… Good morning to you too… She muttered to herself, momentarily blinded. Well the good thing about it was that, she was wide awake. On the other hand, all she could see was black dots all over the place. Rubbing her eyes, she shook her head faintly as she walked towards the kitchen, her steps silent as she looked within the doorway, and leaned against it. Well, well, Shade was also a chef!
“You’re up early.” The light demoness said softly as she stifled a yawn. Yup, she was certainly ready to curl back on the couch again. Grab a nice warm blanket, and curl up and go back to sleep. Akasha stretched and leaned back against the wall, resting her head. Feeling secure was almost intoxicating right now, she didn’t want to leave the security of home, but if she didn’t there would be no more fun in life, merely a boring routine. “Sorry about last night… I take, umm… rather large mood swings at times. The slightest thing can set me off.” She stated as she looked at the ground, her voice soft and humble. Guilt was clear upon her face, but, it was bound to happen sooner or later.
“Need any help?” She asked as she mentally cracked herself across the head. That should have been the first words out of her mouth as she entered the room. Perhaps she wasn’t as alert as she guessed she was. But she did push herself off the wall and walked into the kitchen, waking herself up faintly, as she tried to gather her mind and shove it into focus. How lazy she felt, but waking from a deep sleep wasn’t what she was used to doing. Not to mention that he had been silent and she had awoken slowly. Ah well, it was a new, and bright day, one which she was eager to tackle, for they would be back on the road!

He shook his head, smiling softly, but not looking at her yet. "Nope, but thanks for the offer. Everything's pretty much finished." He set a bowl of steaming eggs next to a plate with freshly fried meat, with some cut fruit and a small stack of buttered toast on the side. "Anything in particular you'd like to drink?" he asked, delving into the icebox to pull out a bottle of milk, and one of juice. He looked at her and arched a brow, the soft smile still playing across his face.

Silver eyes watched him as he denied her help, but she wasn’t sure if she would have been much help anyway. Seeing him smile made her grin as she thought about him being a chef again. Silly mornings when she couldn’t seem to concentrate! “Juice please…” She said softly, as she staid where she rested. She wasn’t used to someone cooking food that looked quite delicious, much less asking her what she wanted to drink. Up and go was what this light demoness was accustomed to doing it, not a sit down meal.
