Again, the shrugging thing. He settled for merely arching his eyebrows. "I'm afraid that's an incorrect assumption. You didn't do anything. The Council got you into this." He quirked the corner of his mouth upwards. "And do stop complaining. You have it a lot better than a lot of people, so there's no need to keep mumbling about it." And quite frankly, he was sick of it. All she ever did was whine and complain about how bad her life was, and wallow in her self pity. Honestly. Move on and get over it! There's so much she's going to miss out on if she keeps complaining like that. Plus, Shade was liable to put a knife to her throat next time she said something like that.

Akasha heard his comment, and an actual smile appeared on her lips, which was thankfully hidden by the cloak. She thought about it for a moment, and muffled laughter could be heard. It wasn’t a fake sharp laughter, but an actual flow of melody, though, thanks to the cloak, it sounded almost as though she was crying. If she had been him, she would have strangled herself long ago. But seriously, almost getting beaten to a pulp, chased down, caught in a sand storm… all in less than 24 hours… It was pretty sad the luck that was on her day that day. She hadn’t meant her last comment as a complaint, but he hadn’t lived with her to see all the trouble that she suddenly stumbled upon. The irony was quite large, and yet, all this was what made her life exciting, even if she despised living itself. It wasn’t for the hardships, but being alive, allowed her to dream, and her dreams brought her back to her worse nights, pulling her headfirst back into her terrors. The light demoness raised her head and looked at him, a faint gleam inside her eyes, which made the dull gray shifted to almost brilliant silver. “What’s wrong shifter boy, light demoness driving you up the wall?” She inquired amusingly. “Never said my life was bad, it was good before I went to Klyera, and I haven’t gotten back on my feet to notice anything but the faint passing of time now. But I seriously pity you, stuck with people like me, who enjoy complaining,” at this she rolled her eyes, clearly showing that she didn’t, despite the fact that she was complaining, “and who try everything to make your life miserable. Speaking of which, is that working?” She asked innocently, tilting her head to the side as a faint shadow of a smile danced across her lips. It had been so long since she had heard someone correct her, since someone had spoken back to her and forced her to open her eyes to the world around her, that she actually took this moment lightly, and enjoyed having someone there to point out her faults. Her mind jumped back to his first words, and she looked at him curiously. “What are you talking about; the Council got me into this? Do you know something I don’t?” She asked curiously, her eyes gleaming faintly as she stared at him. He had her full attention, and even her mood went back to her cold and calm state. It was as though the young girl that smiled and fooled around was locked inside of her shoved behind metal bars and stone walls, unable to break free. But at least she was still alive, merely hidden, somewhere.

He shook his head. "'Fraid not, miss. They only gave me instructions, not reasons." He shrugged his shoulders lightly. "Any maybe you should try smiling more often. Makes you look a lot less intimidating that way." A smirk played on his lips for a moment. "And no, I'm not miserable. I learned a long time ago to not let my feelings get away from me."

She shot him a look as he told her to smile more often, and her eyes practically told him to try and make her. “I like being intimidating.” She said with a simple shrug of her shoulders, though her eyes had a faint gleam to them again. She did smirk again, even though as she did so she placed an innocent look upon her place. “So I can keep complaining!” She joked, her eyes widening like those of a young child.

He shook his head. "Nope. I'll be forced to gag you. And you won't be able to get free." An evilish smirk danced over his face. "There's only so much I can take. And the Council didn't say anything about binding and gagging you. Only about hurting you."

Her eyes flared as he mentioned a gag. “Don’t even dare!” She said with a faint laugh as she shook her head. “If you even try to gag me, you are in for some serious trouble…” She looked at him, wondering if what he was saying the truth or not, and then she decided that she couldn’t put it against him. “Seriously though, don’t gag me… If you want me to be at least semi-cooperative, you shouldn’t gag me.” She warned, her eyes ready to shoot daggers, though her merely placed her head back upon her hands, her expression serious once more.

She shot him another look, though she couldn’t help but tense as he got close to her. He hadn’t moved much, but it was enough to make her mind send warning signals. She would have to outsmart or outmatch this fear, or it was going to get the best of her. But would anyone truly blame her in the end? Would they throw the blame on her for the reasons why she hated males so much? She merely shook her head, which she seemed to do every time her mind got too full with questions and thoughts. “But I didn’t complain this time, Mister Shade!” She said, in the most innocent voice that she could muster, before rolling her eyes and placing her hand under her chin to support her head. She tried to look innocent, and she even managed to take the coldness out of her gaze and aura, though for how long she could do so was unknown.

The light demoness heard his words, but they didn’t fully register until he had gotten up. And it only registered then, for the sun started to shine down on her brightly, sending a sudden rush of power through her body. She didn’t want to move, as she stretched out her arms, much in the way of a feline. She enjoyed this, lying upon the sands, not a thing to worry about. But… She figured that if she just rested here, the Shapeshifter would comment and get her insulted again. So, she merely forced herself to bring her arms close to her body as she pushed herself upwards, and jumped onto her feet again. She had only noticed his hand after she had been ready to get to her feet, and she knew she wouldn’t have taken it either way. She didn’t want to get help from anyone. She was fine on her own. She shook her cloak towards him, swiftly shooting more sand his way, though she merely placed her cloak back over her shoulders and her hood upon her head, immediately cutting the sun contact. “So where do we go now? I’m totally disoriented from that storm.” She said as she looked at the sun, and got her sense of direction. All this was fine, but she still had to figure out which way was the nearest town. Oh well, she could count on Shade while he was following her, at least.

He didn't comment about her not taking his hand; he had expected her to ignore it anyways. He merely tugged his own cloak about his head again, hiding his eyes. "That way," he said, pointing south east. "That's the direction of the closest town."

She looked at the direction in which he had pointed, and seemed to lose herself in thought as she tried to check her internal map. But she couldn’t remember the area that well. It all seemed so vague to her. She couldn’t truly remember everything that she had once known, and though it annoyed her, it allowed her to get a better view of what was around her. She had been there long enough to survive it, so life wouldn’t be so bad in the end after all. “Alright, let’s go!” She said as she walked off, her fingers automatically playing with her chains, as her nails ran against the links. She seemed to stop doing so after a moment, and looked down at the ground. “Hey Shade, how many other people do you protect and watch over, or are you just the councils dog?” She asked curiously. No harm was meant in her words, she merely thought that he worked for the council, and she clearly didn’t seem to like the council that much. But, on the other hand, she wouldn’t join the rebels either, and if she ever had to choose a side, she didn’t know which she would take.

He didn't mind her comment, because he'd conditioned himself to ignore comments such as these. "I'm not their dog. I work for anyone that has enough to pay me. I do pretty much anything that's asked of me, as long as it comes with a substantial payment." He shrugged.

She turned around and started to walk backwards, her gaze upon him. “Do you seriously like doing that? Doing anything for a certain price…” She asked softly, as she turned her head faintly to be able to look over her shoulder. “Why don’t you just settle down and find time to finds things that you like to do. Unless you enjoy your work… then, my apologies for being rash. But jumping from one person to the next, seeking a job, it isn’t the life that I would want to live. But that may be because I have a tendency to attract trouble left and right.” She said with a faint shadow of a grin, as she continued walking backwards. He always walked behind her, so she would just have to learn to walk backwards.

He shrugged. "I don't have a reason to settle down. And I don't have anything that I like to do, or that I could see myself doing for the rest of my life." He arched a brow. "My job is fine, for now. It enables me to do a wide variety of things, which expands my skills. I was even paid to do a babysitting job, now that I think about it. I think that's when I swore off watching children." He put a finger to his chin and looked thoughtful, the barest hints of a smile playing along his mouth.

Akasha laughed faintly, imagining Shade trying to take care of children. “That must have been quite the adventure!” She smirked faintly. “I understand, if I had seen it that way, I wouldn’t want to settle down either. But, yet, always being on the move, would annoy me after a few years... But seriously, you, of all people, hired to babysit... I don’t know who would be so desperate to call on you for that!” She grinned as she looked back over her shoulder, to make sure that she wouldn’t be heading down another sand dune anytime soon. Because for all her grace, she would certainly fall backwards if she had to try and keep her balance.
Her gaze went up towards the sky as she thought about her family. She wondered if they even knew that she was gone. She had moved out of her home years ago, deciding to live on her own. If she was correct, she was heading towards her mother and father’s home. It should be in the next town, if she had taken the right direction. Whether they knew about her going to Klyera or not, it mattered little. Time matters not when you have life unending... She thought to herself as she gazed at Shade from underneath her hood. “Okay, I think too much, but is Shade your real name?” She inquired curiously.
The light demoness knew that she was warming up to Shade, even if it was only a little, but after so many years of being forced to depend on herself and only on herself, having someone there, knowing that if she got caught in a large amount of trouble, and knowing that she wouldn’t have to face it alone... In truth, she missed those feelings greatly. The certainty of being able to enjoy herself without a fear was something else that she had desired. But now fear had a whole different meaning, and fun was just an unattainable word. Everything was changing now that she could thread through life again. Her past was starting to fall behind her, being thrown into the oblivious realm that she could call her memories. To think of only a sole and single thing at a time, allowing one’s mind to relish the thoughts of being at peace, and the largest worries being to survive through the desert and arrive at her parent’s home to get some money and a bit of clothing that would last her until she was independent and back on her feet again.

He grinned. "Well, they were pretty desperate. Hadn't had a night out on their own for a few decades. So, I agreed to it. Besides, they paid me a considerable sum to do so." He shrugged. "No, Shade is not my real name." After this he fell silent, as if he preferred not to speak on it any further. He hadn't used in name in quite a long time, and preferred to keep it that way as long as he could.

Though the light demoness smiled faintly, when the dark demon didn’t tell her his true name, and kept his silence, the female merely turned around, catching the hint. She felt peppy, probably from the decent rest that she had gotten the night before, but the emotion was strange to her now. She looked at her flask, and frowned, knowing that the water would be warm, but, she had an idea. Silently she opened it and poured a bit of water into her hand, controlling it faintly. She formed it into many miniature balls before sending them flying over her shoulder in Shade’s direction, and in the next instant, she changed her pace into a run, knowing that she could keep it up until they reached another Oasis, the town couldn’t be that far ahead of them by now. Truthfully, she had no idea how he would react to foolish antics of boredom, but whether his reaction be good or bad, she didn’t want to know. So instead, she rushed forward.

Shade just barely ducked in time, before he shifted again with a quiet laugh. He became the dark bay horse that he had been before, and started to canter after her. He caught up easily, and nipped at her shoulder, snorting as he kept her pace.

She heard his laughter before hearing the sound of hoof beats not too far behind her. Silver eyes went towards him as he nipped at her shoulder, though instinctively she ducked away from the movement with a side jump. She laughed gleefully as she noticed a sand dune starting to lower in front of her… Running down hills would be fun! Grinning maliciously, she tossed the rest of the flask’s contents at him before leaping off the ground as she reached the edge of the dune, feeling herself fall downwards, before her feet touched the ground again.
The light demoness skidded across the ground as she gained her balance and started running downhill. She felt no fear as the wind rushed pass her, and the sense that she could tumble forward at any moment only gave her more joy. She looked at Shade out of the corner of her eye before continuing downhill, using the momentum that she was gaining to push her forward. This was freedom, no more dark caves and endless work, only the shapeshifter, herself and the desert before them.

He twisted sideways, letting his weight carry him down the dune. Did she honestly think that would slow him down? When he came to a stop at the bottom of the dune, he took a millisecond to get his bearings back before starting after her again. The water she had tossed at him clung to his body, making his hide seem even darker in the sunlight, but it didn't affect him. He increased his speed to bright himself closer to her, and nipped at her again.

Akasha laughed as he nipped at her again. “Cheater…” she whispered faintly as she slowed her pace faintly. Only to rush forward again, but this time, she wasn’t going to try and race him. She knew that he would only nip at her as she got ahead. Instead, she gripped his mane and jumped onto his back, grateful for her long legs as she used her legs to bring herself down gently and rested her body against his neck to make sure that she didn’t slow down his movement. “Try and nip at me now, Shade.” She laughed as she held onto his mane with both hands, and merely looked ahead, wishing that she had more water to toss onto him. Horseback riding was something that she hadn’t done in ages.

He tossed his head with a soft neigh, and arched his neck to increase his pace. This was a much easier way of travelling in his mind; they were now moving at a breakneck pace towards the town that was steadily growing nearer. Going as fast as they were, they'd probably reach the town in about an hour or so. However, he didn't think he could quite handle the warmth that was spreading along his back from where she was seated. It was an unusual feeling, something he hadn't felt in a long, long time, and he didn't recognize it. He shoved the thoughts to the back of his mind as they pounded forwards; it wouldn't do to be thinking of things like that at a time like this. He needed to have a clear head.

Silently she tightened her leg hold as she held on with one hand and used her chains to tie down her cloak, tired of it fluttering behind her. It was a nuisance. She merely wanted to feel the wind and the motion of the horse beneath her. No one would know how much she loved riding upon a horse, and specifically bareback, where only raw power and strength existed. She silently blinked away the tears that formed in her eyes from the wind, and hid her head into his mane, loosening her hold with her legs to be certain that she wasn’t restraining his movement. She felt her hood get blown off by the wind as she watched the speed at which the land was flowing by them. Akasha didn’t even try to reach for it again, for she knew that it was in the sunlight where she belonged, though now, she had made both the dark and the light her home. Run like the wind Shade, run like the wind… She thought to herself as she closed her eyes again, keeping her face hidden with his mane.

He felt every movement she made, and kept up his breathtaking pace. On and on they went, until they were only a few miles from the village. He slowed to a gentle trot, then down to a walk, before finally coming to a standstill. The run had tired him out more than he wanted to admit, and his sides were panting hard. He shook himself slightly, so he wouldn't disturb her, and focused on controlling his breathing. He kept his ears flicked back to listen to her if she said something, and kept his head pointed towards the town in front of them.
