The kaimaei seemed to smirk at her, and tossed his head. Then, before anyone could blink, he had changed into molten silver, and was gliding effortlessly across the sand to slip out of the way of her chains, and reform into a human beside her, curling his arms around hers to keep her from lashing out. His grip was firm and strong, and he wouldn't release her so easily.
"Don't panic," he whispered in her ear. "I'm not going to do anything to you. I just want to help."

Akasha felt her eyes widen as the thing smirked, actually smirked at her! But as he changed she felt herself take a step back. This couldn’t be right, something wasn’t normal! She took another step back as it shifted across the sand with much ease. Suddenly panic rushed through her mind, a blinding panic as she felt arms wrap around her. This shifter had taken male form! Of all forms it could have taken, it was a blasted male! She started shaking her head back and forth as he told her not to panic, that he was here to ‘help’. Yeah right!
“Let me go!” She yelled out, the sand starting to rush up around her as the water from the oasis started to mingle too as she took full control of any element that she could catch within her grasp. Full panic, stuck with something that she despised and feared right beside her, her powers were out of control… that was for sure. “Let go of me now!” She yelled out again, stomping on his foot harshly with her booted heel. She wanted out, and she wanted out now.

He accepted the blow, and fought her magic with his own, battling the sand down. "Stop it. I'll only let you go if you stop this idiocy now. I'm not going to do anything to you!" His tone was harsh and commanding, yet with a gentle undertone to it. "You'll just end up back on Klyera if you kill me!"

She merely ignored his words, allowing them to run into her mind, but actually heeding them, no. That was until; he said the magic word, Klyera. All her control just vanished and she went stiff within his arms, her eyes shooting daggers at him as she took a deep breath, fighting back the memories of that torturous place. She didn’t want to go back there. She had done nothing wrong to go there in the first place!
Her gaze took a frantic gleam as she stared at him shaking her head again, wanting to be released. “I’m not going back there… You can’t force me to go back there! I have done nothing wrong! You people are cruel, unusual, and insane.” She muttered angrily, her voice shaking faintly as panic took control of her tone. It was as clear as the desert was warm that she had many bad memories of that place. Merely being a female. forced to survive there. had given her more strength than she had ever thought that she had been capable of using.
Her hands clenched the links, feeling them digging into her skin, so tight she held them. She didn’t want to be here anymore… She merely wished that they had taken her life while she had been there. That she had fallen under their labor and the cruelty of the people there. But no, she had to be tougher than she had perceived herself to be. She had survived. “Please, just what ever you do… Don’t make me go back there.” She said softly, her voice softer than the dancing wind. It sounded almost like a whimper, and yet, her eyes were still cold, firm, and calculating. No, she wasn’t one to take simply at all. What she showed, was often different than what she thought.

As she stilled in his arms, Shade mentally sighed. The Council obviously didn't know what they were getting into with this one. "I already told you," he said wearily. "I'm not doing anything to do. I never will." He released her arms, and set his hands on hers, pulling the chains from her hands. "If you keep doing that," he said softly, as if he was genuinely concerned. "You'll cut off the circulation, and that hand will be useless." Amethyst eyes looked up to meet her gaze.

She hissed between her teeth at his words, not believing them at all. But her eyes still shot daggers at him as he touched her chains, and she pulled her hands, and her chains out of his grip. “Don’t you dare touch me again…” She threatened, unconsciously placing the chains around her hips and attaching them by a single link. At least she had put her weapon away, but her hand still lingered near it to allow her to fight if she needed it.
“I wouldn’t worry about my hand, male. I’m perfectly capable of knowing what I can and can’t handle.” Akasha turned her back to him and started walking towards where her cloak was half covered in the sands, wanting to stop the annoying glare of the light. It gave her strength, true, but why was it so painful to her eyes? That man didn’t care for her, he was following her for a reason, and it certainly wasn’t to help her. She picked up her cloak and waved it in the air, making sand fly everywhere. “So why are you tailing me? I’m certain that you are not doing it out of the ‘bottom of your heart’.” She stated coldly as she threw her hood over her head, blocking the light from her eyes as she tied it around her shoulders tightly. Her dislike for males was clearly evident.

As she said this, his amethyst eyes turned cold, and his face lost the look of simple concern to be replaced with one of absolute unemotion. "I'm following you because I've been paid a lot of money to keep you out of trouble." His tone was as blank as his expression.

Akasha looked at him, her eyes widening in disbelief. What did they think of her, some type of murderer? “Well look, I’m not in any trouble. I’ll be on my way now.” She said as she continued walking. She know knew who was following her, and this only ticked her off. “I’m following you because I’ve been paid a lot of money to keep you out of trouble…” She mocked to herself, under her breath. “Some people do anything for money…” She sighed as she started massaging her hand as she passed him, fully ignoring him.
“You can leave, for if you’ve been following me, it is evident that I’m not going to do anything to get myself in trouble. It’s not like I enjoyed that place so much, that I’m just searching for a way to return there.” She muttered angrily. Now she was seeing his true colors. He had never cared, and this merely made her shrug. It was as she had expected, someone just trying to pull her into another trap, one more thing that was going to pull out her heart, rip it into shreds, and cause her to hate life even more than she already did. Why couldn’t people just leave her alone? She was minding her own business. All she wanted to do was leave the past behind her. Her time had been paid, even if she had been wrongly accused. The only thing the light demoness wanted was a calm tranquility, to be able to feel again… for she had blocked all her empathy towards the emotions of others and herself.

He watched her walk away for a moment, before he pulled his cloak around him and began to follow her again, ignoring any protest that might come from her at this. He still had 3 days left on his contract, so he wasn't going to leave just yet. Whatever the Council wanted with her must be pretty darn important.

She could hear his footsteps, and, yet, she tried to ignore them. She tried to block them out and continue forward. But, hearing him behind her… It reminded her so much of what she had gone through living in that cursed place. She didn’t want to have to live with that again. So silently, she forced her memories into the back of her mind, locking it behind ice walls. Akasha didn’t know why they were following her, or what they wanted to prove, yet, she knew that she wouldn’t be able to rest until he had left her. Whether that meant that she would die on her own, or live.
Fatigue. Sorrow. Pain. Thoughts rushed through her mind, as she set her eyes ahead of her. She couldn’t block them out, and she didn’t know what to do to stop them from flowing. So, she did the only thing she knew how. She broke into a run. The faster Akasha ran, the swifter the memories flowed through her mind, only to be replaced by more. She could feel exhaustion reaching out to her, and her weak state wasn’t helping her movement. She didn’t care. She wanted to run for miles and miles, until she couldn’t run anymore, and until she was too exhausted to even think. Dehydration. Danger. Sunlight, and heat. None of these seemed to flash through her mind. Only memories rushed forward, thoughts of what had been, and what could have been; thoughts she didn’t want to witness.

Instantly, he became a horse, a beautiful horse of deep browns and a black-as-night mane. He raced after her, keeping pace with her easily without wasting too much energy. He remained right behind her, never letting her get too far ahead of him.

She could hear the beat as someone ran up behind her, and looked over her shoulder just to see him as a horse. He was going to follow her, she knew it. So she merely raced forward, her long legs, pushing her faster, as she raced across the sands. She couldn’t remember the last time she had done so, and she knew that it had been a while. But knowing that she wasn’t just going to allow her thoughts to break through her walls, and awaken her emotions, Akasha continued forward.
She ran as though she knew not of exhaustion, and by the time she fell upon her knees, her breath coming in sharp gasps, as her legs throbbed in protest, the sun was slowly setting. The sun had been the only thing giving her the energy to continue, and now, she could feel shivers flowing through her body as its warmth started to leave her. Silently her mind yelled no, as her head turned towards it, soaking in the last of its power. Soon night would fall, and she would be weaker than she could ever imagine.
Instead of getting to her feet and continuing forward at a slow walk, she staid upon her knees, her head turned backwards faintly to see if he was still right behind her. But she knew, she didn’t want to know the answer.

He slowed when she slowed, and stopped a good distance from her. He shifted again, becoming a great shaggy dog, and padded over to her silently. He lay behind her, resting his head between his paws and his back pressed against hers. Despite how much he wanted to ignore it, he was starting to feel a bit of protectivness towards her, the need to keep her safe.

Akasha felt his back against hers, and shuddered visibly. She knew he was male, she knew he could be human, and that only edged on her fear. She wrapped her arms around her body, feeling another shiver travel through her body. She should have slowed down before dropping, for she knew that she was going to catch a chill now. Silently she opened her flask and took a large drink of water before pouring some on her hands and rubbing it upon the back of her head.
She pushed herself back to her feet, giving a gentle pat on the back as she started forward again. She wasn’t ready to stop just yet. She still had miles and miles to go, and the farthest she could get from that place, and from her hometown, the better. “I don’t want to remember anymore…” She muttered to herself, as she threatened to drain every ounce of energy from her body. She had been doing this for days now, and who knew how long it would be until she dropped, and didn’t get back up.

He stood and shook himself to rid his body of the sand, before trotting after her. He caught her words, and felt a deep-seeded pity towards her, though he would never voice it. He would stay by her side, yes, he would.
Perhaps longer than the 3 days if he felt like it.

The young looking female looked down at him, her eyes showing no emotion, not even the turmoil within. “You just don’t give up do you?” She asked with a loud sigh as her hand slipped through her hair and pulled off her hood. Her silver gaze ran over the sand, before she hung her head faintly. She had a long way to go and an annoying, pesky male following her every step. Her slim fingers clutched at her cloak, and pulled it tightly around her body. No matter how long she had staid at Klyera, she was above all, a light demoness, and the dark only made her weaker. Oh, how she had despised the place that had almost become her grave.

He woofed quietly, and fell in step at her side. He felt his own power increasing as the sun set, and knew she was feeling more and more drained as the night approached. She'd have to stop soon and rest, or she would be pushed beyond her abilities.

She had continued walking, merely looking upon the ground, forcing herself to place one foot in front of the other. When she looked up towards the sky, it was because she was having a hard enough time seeing the ground. Her skin had lost a lot of its color, and she silently clutched her cloak around her shoulders. In her mind, everything was contradicting itself. She despised the light, and yet feared the night thanks to Klyera. She hated the light from being deprived of it for so long, or only being able to catch small glimpse of it now and again, and she feared the night, for as soon as darkness settled, she remembered working under the earth, deep within the mines.
Turning her gaze in every direction, Akasha felt her body start functioning on the last of her energy, swiftly trying to swallow up her hidden reserve of strength. Instead of walking forward, to try and find shelter for the night, the female merely allowed herself to fall down into the sands, taking a break for now. She wanted to walk through the night. If she stopped now, she knew that she wouldn’t be able to defend herself, when her powers were at their lowest, and she didn’t trust the male, or canine, in front of her. “So who are you anyway?” The light demoness inquired as she pulled her knees up to her chin, and sat as curled up as she could. “And why would you be hired to follow me?” Might as well try and learn a few things while she was at it.

He sat beside her, and shifted to his normal form. "I don't know why I was hired to follow you, to be honest. It's not my duty to ask questions." His purple eyes stared out at the vast expanse of sand. "I am called Shade." He hadn't used his true name in centuries, and probably would never use it, ever again.

She looked at him, her gray eyes piercing, and yet, a faint disappointed look seemed to flash before her face briefly. “What could be their folly interest in a light demon?” She asked herself, saying the words out loud to be able to ponder it. Her mind seemed to be shutting down as exhaustion threatened to attack her. She merely shook her head, feeling light blue strands hindering her gaze. “Shade…? Well, pleasure to meet you mister stalker.” She stated casually, a faint tint of sarcasm hidden deep within her voice. The night was going to be long.

He arched a brow at her, but brushed it off. He was used to such jibes; they were a small price to pay for his chosen occupation. "Just focus on resting. I won't touch you. We need you to be strong to move on in the morning," he said simply.

“Uh huh…” She said, not believing him at all. “I don’t trust your species, not since I’ve taken quite the vacation at that place.” She spoke calmly as she turned her eyes towards the stars, yearning to merely be as far from her life as they were from the world. But instead of resting, she did the exact opposite. Her break was over, she was moving. She felt herself stumbled as she stood up, yet she automatically regained her balance, and she dusted herself off. In this place, there was no rest for the weary. But she still had the nagging memories of rebels wandering these sands. “Night isn’t safe… Rebels rush about…” She said softly, as she turned her back to him and continued forward. Well, she didn’t lack perseverance.

He stood fluidly with her, and followed, hands in his pockets. "I won't let them touch you," he murmured softly. "I'm also supposed to keep you safe. Hence, the little incident back in town." He jerked his thumb over his shoulder at the distant sight of the last town she left. "You need to rest, or you'll wear yourself too thin and be in no shape to continue in the morning. Besides, it's getting colder out." Indeed, the temperature had dropped significantly, and the breeze was cool now that the sun had set. "And you don't have to trust my species. Just me. I won't do anything to you that I haven't been ordered to do."

Akasha looked at him, her gaze still blazing. “Yes, thank you for back there… I wasn’t expecting to be attacked.” She muttered softly as she kept walking, only to hear him try and change her mind. She looked at the ground, and merely took another step forward. “If I stop, I’ll freeze, and I prefer to sleep when the sun is upon me and my energy is at its fullest, than now, when I’m weak and I have to trust in someone else to protect my back.” She merely kept her cloak tightly pulled around her, and used her hood to wrap around her neck, so that the breeze wouldn’t seep in through there. “I can’t trust you…” She said softly, her voice showing that she was alien to the word ‘trust’. It had never existed in her vocabulary besides the fact that she couldn’t trust anyone around her.

A soft hand touched her shoulder, and warmth (should have) washed over her as he murmured a soft spell. "You won't freeze. I told you, I'm supposed to keep you safe. Letting you freeze goes against that." He fell silent again, and removed his hand, returning to simply walking behind her.
