A dark, cloaked figure took his time walking towards the tiny Dsjeck village, picking his way carefully over the rather unstable terrain of the tundra. Though he was being cautious, the figure seemed unconcerned over the land, with his bright green eyes focused on his sole task: reaching the village of Smrnof before the sun set completely. The six hours of daylight was almost over, and creatures of all measures of danger wandered this land during the nightfall.
Not that these creatures would dare try and harm this figure. But it was the principle of the matter.
Thane Nemari had separated from his friends this once to visit his home town. They'd all gone their separate ways, for a weeklong stay in their homes. Thane didn't especially like his home, but it was the only place he had to go, and where his friends would meet up with him at the end of the weeks time. So, on he pressed towards the tiny town of Smrnof, his ultimate goal.
When he reached the town, the man entered a small inn, leaning lightly upon the front desk to wait for someone to help him. He was waiting nearly twenty minutes, before the sounds of giggles and breathy moans were heard. He arched a brow gracefully, and leaned over the counter to press a little bell. A few moments later, a young woman finally appeared from the back, looking rather flustered with her hair mused and a rather prominent love-bite showing on her neck. She cleared her throat, but couldn't hide the grin on her face.
"Good evening sir," she said politely. "What can I do for you?"
"I'd like a room, actually." His voice was smooth and even, and he gave her a charming smile. She flushed and giggled quietly, before fumbling around with some papers, and handing him a key.
"Room 19, sir. Have a good night."
"I'm sure I will." He accepted the key and watched her slip into the back room, before heading upstairs to his room. A cold smile slipped onto his face as he ascended the stairs; oh, how he loved coming home.

Kiriel walked calmly through the darkness, her gaze jumping from one thing to the next as she walked slowly, taking her time. There was no rush after all. It was merely a land with creatures that roamed, nothing more, and nothing less. One more place where she would be able to walk around without a care, where no one would ask questions. The darkness was so welcoming; it reminded her of her inner tranquil.
Her steps barely echoed around her, as she noticed a village up ahead. Her eyes shined faintly and she pushed herself into a faster pace. Everything just seemed to be working for her. Her luck was certainly not waning, and she now had a place to stay for the night. The village would be perfect, if she could actually find an inn in this place. Silently she continued walking, looking from one end of her vision to the other, trying to find a place to stay. Yet she found an Inn rather swiftly. “Well, at least the place is accommodating…” She spoke gently to herself, gray eyes checking the darker corners of the streets before heading in the Inn’s direction.
Gently placing a hand upon the door, the young woman entered, as she gracefully tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. She listened as her eyes roamed towards the stairs and then towards the desk. The woman stopped near the desk, her hands resting upon it as she continued to look around. Rather small, but it will do for tonight. She thought to herself as a kind smile appeared on her face while she waited, hoping that wherever the Inn keeper may be, she wouldn’t have to wait too long.
On the other hand, she decided against waiting. “Excuse me, is anyone here? I would like to have a room please.” She called out softly, her voice rushed between her lips in a melodious octave. Well, at least now, the wait would begin.

It took a few moments, but the young desk clerk appeared again. This time, she looked rather annoyed at being interrupted. She shot Kiriel a glare, then grabbed a key and shoved it at her. "Here," she spat. "Room 19." With that, she vanished into the back again.
Upstairs, Thane was slipping his clothes off in preparation for a nice shower. He folded the articles of clothing gently on the table, and slipped into the bathroom. He turned the water to a scalding temperature and stepped in, letting the droplets cascade down his body with a soft sigh. Ah yes, this was heavenly.
((That's right. She put them in the SAME ROOM. ;D))

The young woman smiled kindly as the clerk appeared looking rather annoyed. She still kept her happy smile and gently too the key to the room. “Thank you very much miss, have a most wonderful evening!” She called to her as she turned and walked up the stairs, rolling her eyes. Mortals were so odd at times. But, she wasn’t going to pay it any heed. She had probably interrupted something. Pity.
Twiddling the key between her fingers, Kiriel walked calmly up the stairs, her steps barely making a noise as she passed from door to door, stopping as she reached number nineteen. The female paused for a moment and unlocked the door, slipping the key into her cloak, but upon entering the room, she sensed that something wasn’t right, and as she looked around, she noticed the clothes upon the table, and she heard the running of a shower. Well… something wasn’t right here. Instead of freaking out, or running downstairs to demand another room, Kiriel closed the door gently towards her and leaned against it, her eyes alert. The air just didn’t seem right; on the other hand it seemed too familiar. Oh well, she was used to waiting, and waiting she would be until she found out who she would have to share the room with… The poor person.

It was nearly 45 minutes before Thane emerged from the shower, clean white cotton towel draped losely about his hips. His necklace was the only article he wore of his own, and the black cross stuck out against his fair skin. Then...
He looked up, meeting eyes with her directly. He ceased all movement, save for the minute rise and fall of his chest, hand resting lightly on the back of a chair. He held a few moments of silence, before he moved again, reaching for his clothes and slipping into the bathroom again.
When he re-emerged, he was dressed in a simple white shirt, and the pair of travelling pants he had worn into the inn. He crossed to the small kitchen area and set a pot of water on the stove to boil for tea.
"Do you like your tea with sugar and cream?" he inquired, retrieving two cups from the cabinet.

As he walked out, she was still in her same position, her patience a rather large gift. She raised an eye brow as he merely walked across the floor, seeming without a guard, but then his eyes met her gaze, and he stopped moving. She held his gaze and watched him walk back into the bathroom to get changed.
Placing her foot gently against the door, she kept herself in her leaning position until he entered again, Kiriel’s expression showing nothing but a look of innocence. Her gaze followed him, watching his every movement, and as he went into the kitchen, she pushed herself off the door, feeling her dark brown hair slide past her ears and rest against her cheeks.
“Yes please.” She spoke softly as she walked towards the kitchen, her steps soft and nimble. Gray eyes glimmered faintly as she looked at the pot of water, looking around the room in mild curiosity. Well, certainly he had a key to get into here also. So the clerk had merely played her for a fool. How embarrassing this situation could have been to most people.
“My apologies for barging in, the kind glaring lady downstairs must have caught the feeling that we were traveling together.” She spoke in her gentle tone once more, an amused smile dancing across her lips.

He smiled warmly at her, and poured cream and sugar into her cup as he waited for the water to boil. "Appology accepted. Though, I believe she was a bit distracted, so she probably wasn't paying much attention to what she was doing." He grinned. "But you are most welcome to stay, since she'd probably be really upset about being interrupted for a third time."

She watched him curiously and smiled brightly. “Oh, thank you. You have my sincerest gratitude.” Kiriel spoke politely. “I do believe. I should have waited a bit longer, but who know how long I would have been standing near that desk.” She said softly with a soft laugh as her gaze went towards the door for a moment before flickering back to him. “I am Kiriel.” The female spoke as she held out her hand towards him. Certainly it would seem to others as though they did this often… Or they knew each other.

"Thane," he replied, smiling in return and accepting her hand. After the breif contact, he handed her the tea. He took his own tea, black, and moved around the kitchen area to settle in a chair in the middle of the room. He tucked his legs underneath him as he sat, and blew softly on his tea, before gesturing for her to sit across from him. "So, what brings you to Dshjek?" he inquired.

Kiriel nodded politely in greeting as he said his name and held the tea in her hands, as she followed him and sat across from him, gently placing her cup upon her legs as she allowed the warm object to warm her hands. She looked at her drink for a moment as she tilted her head faintly, gray eyes rising to meet his gaze once more. “Well, I would have to say curiosity, and wanderlust. Yourself?” She asked, returning the question.

"I was born here," he replied with a smile. "Dshjek has always been my home. I had some free time, so I came back for a visit." He shrugged softly, before sipping his tea again. "What was so interesting about Dshjek that attracted you?" he inquired.

She smiled softly as he told her that Dshjek was his home. Well surprise, surprise. She would have never guessed, but alas, who would when they encountered someone for the first time? But she had noticed how his gaze resembled that of a feline, and now she had her answers. “To be quite frank, I haven’t the foggiest of ideas, but I believe that it is because I was interested in how the population of this country lived, since they do have a lack of sunlight.” She explained as she lifted her tea to her lips and blew on it gently before taking a sip. “Your tea is quite delicious.” Kiriel commented as her gaze fell down towards the warm liquid, before rising back towards him. "Thank you," he said with a smile. "It's from Lysten. They have some of the best teas there." He grinned. "Dshjek is hardly the most inviting place, though. The people tend to favor their privacy."

“I’ll have to remember that and go visit there.” She said as she gave him a bright smile before taking another taste. “It doesn’t seem to be, but I’m originally from the Sereline Islands and well, any place where you don’t risk getting devoured by lava is most inviting in my opinion.” Kiriel laughed softly. He laughed. "Can't argue with that. I tend to prefer Westvern, myself. Rolling hills and open plains are better than frozen soil." He shrugged lightly. "But that's just my personal opinion, and you are certainly most welcome to think differently."

She nodded. “No I totally agree. I do prefer Westvern myself, since I did spend enough time upon that land. It is almost like my second home.” The young woman said softly, gently pushing a long strand of dark brown hair behind her ears. “Are you going to be staying here for long?” Kiriel inquired politely. Kiriel merely laughed faintly. “Probably not, I like to travel, and I’ll most likely be heading back to the Sereline Islands to help out the healers there. They can always use an extra hand.” She said as she sipped at her tea, falling quiet as she looked back around the room.

He nodded. "I'm afraid I'm not one for healing," he said smoothly, not even a flicker in his eyes as he spoke. He drained the last of the tea from his cup and rose. "I believe I'm going to retire for the night. There are two beds, so make yourself comfortable." He smiled and set his cup in the sink, before disappearing into the back room and slipping off his shirt for a night's rest.

The young woman smiled as he spoke that he would retire for the night. “Have a good rest.” After he walked into the back room, a cold look appeared in her eyes as he mentioned that he wasn’t one for healing. Oh, I’m not one either… Not one at all. She thought as she merely closed the light and finished her tea in the dark. Silently placing her cup in the sink as well, she nimbly turned around and headed for the bathroom, slipping into a lighter shirt and pants as she folded her clothes and placed it in her traveling bag. She walked softly across the floor and went towards the free bed, and slipped under the covers.

Warning: Those under the age of 16, this post contains violence and lots of blood. Don't read it if you don't like it. You have been warned, so don't complain after you read it.
The next morning....
Thane awoke the next morning (if you could call it that, because it was still dark) and slipped silently from the room as he tugged his shirt over his head, not even glancing at the bed where Kiriel was supposedly sleeping. He slid into the kitchen, and started fixing another cup of tea, with extra water for her if she wanted it. He checked the watch on his wrist, and tilted his head to the side; the girl downstairs would probably be asleep at the moment. Good. A slow smile spread across his face as he moved to his pack and withdrew a rather ornate knife from the bag. He tilted it in the dim light of the room for a moment, examining how it glinted onto the wall, before slipping it into his belt.
He left the room, descending the stairs with a rather regal aire in his bare feet, to the lobby. The girl was nowhere to be found, and had probably returned to her home for the night, while another desk clerk took over for her. He smiled warmly to the clerk, who blushed beautifully, before leaving the inn altogether. The morning was cool, but he felt none of it; one of the benefits of being what he was, he didn't feel the elements around him. Pausing breifly outside of the inn, he closed his eyes, the vision forming on his eyelids in front of him; a room, filled with dozens of candles, some burning brightly, some flickering on the brink of going out. He lifted a hand, and a thin tendril of light drifted from his palm, snaking around the candles until it found what it was seeking. Moving carefully as to not disturb the other candles, Thane stepped towards the candle, and pressed his palm flat onto the light, snuffing it out.
His emerald eyes snapped open, and his feet moved of their own accord, bringing him down the winding streets of Smrnof. He reached a small apartment complex, and palmed the door open gently, slipping inside without a word.
Pre-dawn light filtered in through a window as he entered the bedroom where the girl was sleeping. Thane moved to her bedside, the blade appearing silently in his hand as he stood over her, his face blank and emotionless as he watched her for a moment.
He drew the blade swiftly across her throat, slicing deep. Blood gushed from the wound, and her eyes snapped open reflexively, and brown eyes wide with disbelief stared up at him. He wound his fingers in her hair and lifted her head up towards him as she choked on her own blood.
"Next time, try actually doing your job before you play around," he whispered to her, before severing her head completely from her body. He then set to work removing other parts of her body, such as the third finger of her right hand, and the fourth of her left.
He left her home half an hour later, leaving behind a rather gruesome scene to be found later on in the day, when she didn't show up for her shift. He had managed to get blood only on his hands, which he had washed away easily in a bowl of water. His clothes were spotless, as per usual, and the deskclerk suspected nothing when he appeared at the inn again.
"Lovely day out," he said warmly to the woman at the desk, who smiled and replied, "Indeed sir." He laughed gently, and headed back up the stairs to his room. He opened the door silently, and took a seat on the chair, lifting a cigarette to his lips, and lighting it. He inhaled deeply, before letting his emerald eyes flick upwards.
I warned you, didn't I? You may not think this is bad, but it'll get worse. Thane is my Rated R character. Under 16 Years of Age, you have been warned. Please don't read it unless you can handle it, k?

((Oh, so we get to be gruesome as long as we put a warning? This should be fun… *eyes twinkle* Oh, great kill, by the way.))
As Thane had slipped out of the room, Kiriel’s eyes had darted open, as she concentrated upon his softened footsteps. Not a sound was made as she slipped out of the bed and opened the door to their room, constantly listening to him. A cold smile danced upon her lips and her usual friendly face became harsh, uncaring and cold. She closed the door behind her and slipped into the kitchen, using the boiling water to make herself a cup of tea as she prepared warm water for her bath that she was hoping to take now that he was gone. She silently made her bed and decided to go back into the kitchen before the water boiled, though the window caught her attention.
Her shadowed gaze flicked back outside the window, as she leaned against it, while hearing the water boil. Her lips were still slanted upwards in her cold grin, as she stretched languorously, her bare feet taking her across the ground and towards the kitchen. Such a beautiful morning, and yet, for someone, it would be ruined. But, it mattered not for her; this was all apart of one day within her wonderful and magnificent life. She couldn’t wait to hear the blood thrilling scream of those that would find the truth. Oh well, it mattered not, and if she kept worrying about petty things such as that, her tea would go cold.
In utter silence the young female prepared her tea and started sipping it as she walked around her room, not caring that the liquids were warm. In truth, it mattered not. It wouldn’t do her much damage in the end. Bringing her bag with her into the bathroom, she took off her clothing and slipped calmly under the warm water, after having placed her cup upon the bathtub side. Hot water rushed over her head as she emerged under its surface, soothing herself as her mind went back to the murder that could be taken place. Why else would he leave so early in the morning? Yet slowly the soothing sensation of the water took away her thoughts, and she was allowed to drift in a silent bliss.
About twenty minutes later, Kiriel froze as she heard the door open, and a smile danced across her lips as she slipped out of the water and pulled the plug, allowing the water to drain. Nimbly she dried herself off and slipped into light black pants and a blouse before wrapping her hair up upon her head. She placed her clothes into her bag and walked out of the bathroom, as she leaned against the door. “Did you have a good morning?” She inquired politely, her cup of tea in one hand as she tossed her bag upon her bed. A gentle, knowing smile danced upon her lips as she watched him, studying him silently before walking towards the bed and sitting upon it, as she folded her long legs beneath her body.

His lips twitched upwards into a smile as he took another drag, exhaling but not inhaling. "I did. It's lovely to walk in the early morning," he said, meeting her eyes breifly before letting his gaze rest absently on the wall. "I didn't wake you did I?" he inquired.

She shook her head gently and smiled sweetly. “Oh no, not at all. I always wake up near dawn.” Kiriel said as she took another sip of her tea, which had gone slightly cold. Her gaze flickered towards the window and she noticed the sun. “Oh look, six hours of daylight soon to fade.” She said softly as another smile danced upon her lips. Night, the dark, the terror of most and the thing that allowed her to cover up her trail, she adored the dark. “Do you know of anything quite interesting that can be done here?” She asked curiously, placing her cup upon her knee. He shrugged lightly. "Depending on what you find fun. Smrnof isn't much of a tourist town, if that's your style. A few scattered shops and mostly residential areas. Nothing too enthralling." Another puff of smoke.
