"Damnit." Rian scowled as snow got in his boot. Since he'd come to this acursed country he'd slipped and fell on his ass nearly 12 times, gotten pelted by icy particles continuously and now he had snow in his shoe. Rian, who had been born in another snowy region, absoluted hated the cold and this whole experience was only intensifying it.
~~This guy better know what he's talking about or we're going to have it out on principle.~~ He thought, remembering back to the man who'd told him that he'd seen a snow dreger up here, a rare species of canine. And as a trader of animals, all Rian saw was jiats dancing in his head. Of course now that he thought about it...was a stupid action that had been.
Thinking about this however, had taken his attention away from where he was walking and sure enough he fell again.
"You've got to be kidding me." He said in annoyance. When he tried to lift himself though he found that his foot had found a random hole in the ground and was stuck fast, while a sharp pain travelled through his leg. The noir's eyes went wide.
"Definitly not good."
((Aww! He hurt his ankle like me! Someone save him!))

A gloved hand appeared in front of the Noir's face, which led to an arm, which subsequently led to a face where a pair of bright blue eyes watched the other man expectantly. The man was bundled up quite warmly, and looked like he knew where he was going.
Caedmon Lys, unlike the others in his clique, had travelled as far away from his home as he could get, splitting up with Thane halfway through Dsjeck to head further south to Verev. The wind demon wasn't fond of his childhood home, so he opted for going someplace he'd never been before. And here, in the dark tundra of Verev, he had found this Noir, stuck in a hole, and probably in a lot of pain, considering the angle at which he had fallen. The demon seemed unbothered by the elements that swirled around him, and the wind shifted so that the snow was no longer blowing around either of the two men; it'd be easier to get the poor Noir out of his predicament if there wasn't anything to distract either of them.

Rian blinked as a hand suddenly appeared in front of him. He looked up to see a pair of eyes that seemed to mirror his own. It wasn't often that he didn't sense people approach him, but his own pain was overriding any emotions that might be surrounding him.
Hesitantly, Rian took the man's hand and began to pull himself free of the hole. After a few moments and wince of pain, the Noir's foot was freed. Immediately, the blond reached down to his foot to make sure it wasn't broken, luckily it was only sprained, though it still hurt like a b*tch.
"Hey, thanks." Rian said, looking to his rescuer. Who had apparently materialized out of nowhere.

((*dies* pregnant dog!!! AHAHAHAH!))
He knelt down in the snow, and rested a hand gently on the man's ankle, intense blue eyes locked on his hand. A pale silver light flickered around his hand a moment, almost like fire, and he murmured a small spell. A bandage formed from the air, and clung tight to the man's ankle. "That should keep it from getting too inflamed," he said, looking up to meet the Noir's eyes. "And your welcome." He stood, and offered him a hand up.

((Lol...don't know why you're laughing...it's your stupid site....))
Rian watched quietly as his ankle was bandaged too quickly for him to follow. "Uh, thanks again." He replied, taking the hand offered him and standing.
"Not that I'm complaining but what are you in this frozen hell for?" Rian wondered, he honestly hadn't expected to find anyone else out here.

Caedmon made a face that pretty much said, 'Why'd you ask that?'. "I'm on vacation," he said, a hint of a sulk in his voice. "You?"

Rian let a scowling expression cross his face and he sighed slightly. "I'm suppose to be looking for an animal. But it's rather impossible under these conditions." He remarked. "I'm Rian by the way." He said, offering his hand this time.

He glanced at the hand a moment, before accepting and giving it a gentle but firm shake. "Caedmon. An animal, eh?" he inquired, letting a small gust of air brush through his hair before closing off the contact. "Which?"

The Noir took a deep breath and looked around. "A Dreger?" He replied, coming back to look at the other. He was getting a strange emotional reading off this one. He was calm, but not quite as cold, emotionally, as his manner would make him out to be. "I don't suppose you've seen something huh?" He asked hopefully.

He arched a brow at the man. "A dreger? I'm afraid those haven't been seen around these parts for nearly a millenia," he said slowly, eyes narrowing slightly. "I do believe you've been conned." The tiniest hint of a smirk flickered at the corner of his mouth for only an instant. "Nowadays dregers are only seen in Novience, and rarely at that." He shrugged.

Rian sighed, but not with as much dissapointment as one might expect. "And he'd seemed so sincere." He remarked in slight irritation. "Now I'm in pain, tired and worst of all I'm cold." He rubbed his hands together. "Well, it makes me feel better about the fake coins I gave him for the info." The Noir said with brief smirk. "Looks like I should've just gone home to Novience afterall. At least it's not quite so cold."
"So, not to be bothersome. But would you happen to know the way back to civilization?"

He nodded and waved a hand in a southern direction. The wind whipped away, clearing the path, and there, just a bit into the distance was the unmistakeable glow of a city. "You weren't really that far off," he commented, before casting a glance back to him. "I'll accompany you, if you'd like.

"Oh see, now if I'd known that was the requirement for traveling around here I would've come prepared." He said, muttering something about finding his 'informant' and hurting him.
"Huh?" Rian came out of his thoughts when Caedmon spoke again. "No, I wouldn't mind at all. Especially if you're going to do that nifty 'keep-the-wind-away' trick." He said smiling warmly and running a smoothing hand through his wind tossed, dirty blond hair to emphasize his point.

He arched a brow elegantly, before shrugging and slipping his hands into the pockets of his coat as he started walking towards the city, the "wind bubble", as it were, moving with him.

Rian followed closely behind trying to stay out of the piercing wind as much as possible. He made a note mentally to never return to this area...ever.
As they walked Rian had wanted to initiate a conversation, if only to alleviate some of his own boredom. However, he got the distinct impression that his 'rescuer' wasn't a big talker. So he decided to wait until they were both somewhere warmer. Though he was interested as to why someone would want to take a vacation here of all places.

Caedmon didn't do anything to break the silence. It took them just under an hour to reach the city, and they entered without much fuss. There was a magical sheild around the city that allowed easy enterance for people, but kept out the wind and harsher elements. Inside the barrier, the air was warmer and less harsh, though not tropical. Caedmon slid down the hood of his jacket and unbuttoned the first few clasps of the coat before sighing softly.
"Here we are. You may be able to catch a transport back to the border in the morning." And by morning, he meant when the light actually shone in the sky, that scant three hours of daylight that graced this land. "They don't run anything after nightfall."

Rian, stepping into the city behind Caedmon, immediately felt a wave of pain in his head. Because he'd been focusing on his foot and the cold, he'd forgotten to build up his mental shields against the people of the city's emotions. He winced but made no sound as to avoid drawing the wind demon's attention to himself.
"Light huh?" He said, a short moment later. "Just great." As he tried to wipe the expression of pain off his face, Rian looked out over the city. It certainly wasn't much and he wasn't even sure where to begin in terms of finding shelter for the night. "Guess I don't have to worry about the hotels being booked though." He said humorously, attempting to break the obvious ice around his companion.
As the sudden heat, or rather lack of cold, in the city began to settle into him, Rian started to suddenly feel very exhausted. It was obvious the days had been extremely rough on the Noir, who usually spent his time in much warmer and more relaxed climates than this.
"So are you staying in a hotel?" He asked, trying to shake off his sudden fatigue. "Because saying that I know nothing about this town would be an understatement. Can you tell me where to go from here?" Inwardly Rian prayed that he was not getting sick...that's the last thing he needed.

Caedmon's lips twitched downward into a small frown. "Are you ill?" he inquired, tilting his head. "You look pale." He reached over with a gloved hand and tilted his, well, companion's face towards him. A breif emotion passed through his eyes before he shut it away, and his blue eyes returned to their normal state of emotionlessness ((that's not a word >_<)). "I can take you to a medical facility if you require aid," he said, withdrawing his hand. "I'm afraid I'm not much of a healer."

((Lol...inventing words again Pyro? *tsk tsk* and what's with the random font color changes?....O.o))
Rian winced again as Caedmon looked into his eyes. This guy's briefest of emotions were so strong it was like being shot by the most peircing arrow.
"Not a healer? Come on, I thought those hero types who appeared out of no where and rescued people from freezing to death were suppose to be able to do anything." He remarked, smiling weakly.
"But no, I don't think I need a healer." He said, trying to assure himself mostly. "I've always been a pansy when it came to the cold." The Noir tried to straighten himself up a little, so he didn't look so pathetic.
"Sleep however, is something I could go for. Mind being my chaparone for little longer?"
((I'm totally tempted to have him just pass out....))

((^^ Only if you want to give Caedmon a headache.))
Caedmon shrugged slightly, and moved forward, sliding an arm around his waist. "You can lean on me if you like." He started moving forward, pressing his hand gently against Rian's back to pull him forward as well, heading down the street towards an inn.

((A headache? With what font colors or passing out? Besides...I always want to give you a headache....*evil face* ))
Rian was only vaguly aware of Caedmon when he spoke. "Thanks." He was unsure what he was thankful for, but it seemed like he should be anyway.
As they walked the Noir was able to get up some semblence of mental shields and felt slightly better. He began to walk a little more on his own, not use to have to rely on others, if only because he wasn't used to getting to close to people, either in proximity or emotionally.
"So, do you do this often?" Rian asked after a while. "Or do you just have some sort of hero complex?" Joking had always been his way to hide vulnerability or his uncomfortable feelings.

He shook his head. "No, no hero complex. You looked like you were in a lot of pain." He shrugged slightly. "It wouldn't have been very kind of me if I had just left you out there, would it have?" He arched a brow at the other man, before steering him into the doorway of an inn. He released the man, hesitating a moment to make sure he could stand on his own, before heading to the desk to speak with the clerk. After a few breif words, he was handed two keys, and Caedmon made his way back to Rian's side.
"Your room is right next to mine," he said, handing the man a key. "Can you make it up on your own?" he asked softly.

"Huh? Oh..." Rian glanced around for the stairs that would lead to his room. "Yeah, definitly." He replied, spotting the beginning of the stairwell not far off. After all, now that he'd been rescued and practically carried back here the only way he was going to retain any dignity was if he could at least get to his own room by himself.
So he took the key offered him and headed off to the stairs. "Just promise if you hear and loud crashes from you're room you'll call down for a medic." He said, again jokingly, though he didn't look back. He hoped his room wasn't too far up, as he looked down at the number of his key.

Caedmon nodded, and followed him up the stairs. "I will. Promise." A flicker of a faint smile crossed his face as he slipped into his room. "Goodnight." The door shut with a soft click.

Rian gave a quick nod of gratitude before the other man dissapeared into the room. The noir glanced to one side and then the other, noting the second door had the number that matched his key. He walked, as best he could, to the door and opened it quickly. As he walked he shut the door but he still didn't hear the familiar click, not that he cared. As he searched for the bed in the dark he was thankful that this wasn't a room he'd previously been in, otherwise he'd have been tripping constantly over the floor.
Finally, Rian felt the touch of a matress beneath his probing fingers, that and the fact that his shin hit the wood beneath it, immediately fell sideways onto his back, staring up into the pitch black. Even through his exhaustion he marvelled at how completely dark everything was in this part of the world. Even during the day it was never quite as bright as the sun should be.
He closed his eyes but found it impossibe to sleep with the throbbing that had become his head. As he covered his face with his hands he noticed that his eyes had begun to water involuntarily and he mused at this while he wiped it away. He would've gotten up to the bathroom but finding it was only a 2% chance and removing his head from the pillow was probably not a good idea.
With a pained and aggravated sigh Rian resolved to simply stared blindly up at the ceiling. This was going to be a very...very long night.
