Besides being just as dirty as most of the miners of Castaz, Cynyr just didn't feet in with the normal 6 foot, 25-50 year old men that walked around pushing carts of gems or hauling equipment into the caves.
Of course Cyn wasn't exactly out in the middle of everything either. He was hidden behind a few rocks with his daemon, currently a sparrowhawk, Taranis, perched on his shoulder.
"Ready Tara?" The white haired boy asked, grinning wickedly.
"Always." She replied happily.
"Go to it then." The bird nodded and changed into a fly and headed off.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Look there!" One of the younger miners said and pointed to something in a field just before the mines. The others stopped what they were doing to glance over. Sure enough there was a white horse with a horn directly on it's forehead.
The other men blinked, some rubbing thier eyes and they slowly began to walk towards the creatures.
Meanwhile, Cynyr was already making short work of one of the carts filled with gems.
"HEY! What are you doing!?" Cyn was caught. The kid stuffed his last handful into his pockets and sprinted. Diving back around the rocks he'd come from he headed for the hole in the fence they he and Taranis had created.
"Get back here!" A few more men had joined the first, but Cyn didn't care he was faster and he wanted it more.
He wriggled himself through and headed straight for town.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"There you are." Tara had been a little worried about her counterpart when he'd taken off and she now joined him in the back alley that Cyn had taken to. "You okay?"
"You know it." He grinned, holding up his bounty. The now wolf Daemon looked at him happily.
"Good then this wasn't a total waste of time."
((Yeah, you know the routine...join if you're bored...catch him...join him...whatever))

"Heya!" came a voice from behind the Cigazze. A young human male sat behind him, grinning broadly. He was 19, by appearance, with sandy brown hair and matching chocolate eyes. "Whatcha up to?" he asked, tilting his head and grinning.
Kale Rsanda had split up from his partners in crime for a weeks vacation, and had returned home to Castaz. His breif stop at the mine had drawn his attention to the boy-theif, and it intrigued him immensely. Very few actually managed to steal the raw gems from the mines before they were sent off to be manufactured. So, he had offered to track down the theif. The boy had been taught well by Caedmon; he'd found the supposed theif in a relatively short amount of time, and it made him rather happy with himself. He'd have to tell Caed his story when they all got back together.
Now, he focused on what was at hand. He had to be careful; street theives were often desperate, and would do anything for their money. Key idea #1: Don't provoke him.

Cyn and Tara turned quickly at the sounds of another. "Oh, whoa..." Cyn said taking a deep breath. "People sneaking up while you're still hyped on adrenaline, not a good idea." The cigazze remarked, giving the man the once over.
"Right now I'm not up to anything. Just relaxing." His hands moved so quickly it looked as if whatever he'd been holding literally dissapeared.
"So is there something I can help you with?" He wondered.
Taranis stood at her's boys feet, sniffing the air to get a reading on the newcomer.

"Well," he said tilting his head. "Some friends of mine said that some kid stole something precious of theirs, and they asked me to get it back for them. I was wondering if you'd seen anyone that was about this height," he held up his hand, "With a unicorn accomplice. Have you?" He grinned impishly.

Cynyr chuckled lightly. "Unicorns huh?" He asked incredulously. "I hate it break it to you but I think your employers might be...uhh...little out there." He said, sarcastically. He help up his hands innocently.
"No, I'm afraid I haven't seen anyone by that description." He replied. "But, if I do. I'll be sure an let you know." The cigazze added adamantly as he began to back away.

Kale shook his head, and stepped forward in time with him. "You and I both know that you took those gems, dear friend. Your petty theivery could cost those men their jobs, and I can't allow that to happen. D'ya think you could just.....give the gems back? Please?" He smiled hopefully.

Cynyr shrugged nocommitally. "Sorry, but no. Those miner's jobs are not my concern." He took another step away. "Besides, thieving is only petty if there's no purpose behind it." He remarked, somewhat offended that this man should criticise him. "Those guys will hardly miss what was taken, they have a full mine of gems. I'll put them to better use then anyone who they would've sold them to could have." Another step back.
Taranis' fur began to stand up on end when Kale advanced towards Cyn. The wolf bared her teeth slightly and was watching the situation very carefully.

Kale ignored the dæmon; she couldn't touch him, so he wasn't worried about it. "C'mon, please?" he pleaded, sticking out his lower lip in a pout. "They'll hear about it from their boss! They can't just cover it up with other gems!" He sighed. "At least give some of them back and I'll give you the full price for what you give back."

Cynyr smirked. "For the full price you can have all of them back." He said, withdrawing a bad that he'd tied to his belt, as well as the handful that was still in his pocket.
"It's not like I'm keeping them to eat or something." The cigazze pointed out. "Not sure why you care about a bunch of stupid miners though..." he added with a nonchelant shrug as he opened the bag for Kale to examine.

He smiled greatfully. "Very well." He pulled a rather sizeable purse from his belt, and opened it, peering inside and mumbling something to himself, before he offered the bag for the theif to see, though he was careful to keep it far enough away so that the theif didn't just grab it and go. "There you are. This should be more than enough." He smiled warmly at him.

Cynyr had no problems handing Kale the gems first before taking the money he was offered.
"Thanks mate. Saved my plenty of trouble dealing with the middle man." He said, handing the pouch to Taranis, who had calmed significantly.
"So you really going to go give those back to those miners?" He asked, truly incapable of wondering why someone would do that.

He nodded. "Believe it or not, those miners are my friends. I don't want to see them get in trouble for something that was out of their control." He smiled warmly. "But how about a quick bite to eat, my treat, since you're already here? I'll even spring for your dæmon." He grinned and offered the theif his hand.

Cyn laughed. "Hand holding. How quaint." The cigazze remarked. "Hey, you're cool and everything. Saving me some time, buying food, and everything. But I don't like you that much." He said jokingly. "Just lead the way." He said, shaking his head lightly.
Taranis however liked this man already. Anyone who bought her food was alright in her book.

Kale laughed warmly. "It was just for a handshake," he said with a smile. He started down the alley way and ran a hand through his hair, looking around to get his bearing. "How does a steakhouse sound?" he asked over his shoulder.

"Hey, as long as you're paying anything sounds good." The white haired boy assured him. Tara however let out a bark to show her approval.
"Steak sounds just fine." The daemon said, speaking for the first time.

He grinned at her. "Very well, steak it is." He led them down the street towards a resturant he knew well. He asked for a table outside, so they could enjoy the rather light weather they were having, and so that Taranis wouldn't disturb the other customers. Once they were seated, he smiled warmly at the other boy and handed him a menu. "Pick anything you like," he said, before scanning over the menu himself.

Cyn took the menu and looked it over. He didn't really care what kind of meal he got. Food wasn't really one of those things he was picky with. After all when until the age of 8 nearly all your meals were from dumpsters any food that's actually for you is worth eating.
"Umm, I'll just have a steak, medium-rare. And whatever it comes with, if anything." He said, putting the menu down after only a moment. "And I'm assuming you want rare?" The cigazze was addressing his wolf-daemon.
"Yup." Taranis said pleasently. Cynyr gave her a half smirk.
"Yeah, that's all." The young man said looking to Kale again.

Kale grinned, and motioned for the waiter to come over. "Three House Specials, one well done, one medium rare, and the other rare. Sauteed veggies on the side.Oh, two sodas and water as well." He smiled and the waiter nodded, before disappearing into the back kitchen. The teenager grinned and turned to his young friend. "So, how long have you been in Castaz?" he inquired.

Cynyr took a sip of the soda that was placed before him. "Not long." He replied. "3 days I think." Another sip. "We usually stick close to Beven, hopping ship every now and again. Castaz is a great place to find lots of rich people who believe themselves to lose things easily." A flicker of a grin appeared on his face.
"But alas, our carefree days will soon be at an end. I doubt Tara is going to be happy staying in one place all the time." He remarked, glancing to his now Lemur daemon climbing to his shoulder.

He laughed gently. "So I would imagine. Castaz is a wonderful place, though." He grinned. "I used to live here...I worked in the mines alongside those very same men you stole from today, before the upped me to Trader status." He showed the boy the Trader mark on the inside of his wrist and grinned impishly. "But you're right; a lot of people think that they simply misplaced things in Castaz."

"Yeah, well I think those other guys should also think about getting into a new line of work. Not only is what they do immensely boring, but breathing in all that dust can't be healthy for you." He noted.
"And the rich people here are even worse then the miners. If someone 'misplaced' some of the things I've stolen off of them you can be sure I wouldn't just forget about it. People like that shouldn't be allowed to have money." He said determinedly.

"Unfortunatly," said Kale, grinning. "We aren't the ones to say who has money and who doesn't. Besides, not all of them are as ditzy as you think. Most just have enough money to where they can replace the missing item." He shrugged.

"Ditzy? I don't think they're ditzy. I think they're snobby people who don't value thier money because they've always had it." Cynyr replied in a child-like manner. "But they can be like that all they want. Makes my life easier and my stomach fuller." He said, smirking again. "Right Tara?" The boy said, looking to his daemon.
The lemur shrugged. "Sure, though I think going to school in Mirlan is a better idea." She pointed out.
"I know. I know." The cigazze said, waving his hand.

"Oh?" he said, addressing the dæmon. "Why would attending the university be better than living a life on the street? Surely you make more money here than you would with any education." He grinned at her, winking.

"Oh please don't get her started." Cynyr pleaded. "She's been begging me to join the academy for ages. But, apparently the concept of paying for one's tuition hasn't taken full effect." He said, looking to the daemon.
"Well, that's why you were saving up right? Surly we have enough now." Taranis remarked. Cyn just shrugged.
"I dunno and I'm not really up for discussing it either." He retorted. Tara just huffed.
"Whatever." She said indignantly. "But you'll be wishing you'd listened to me come the winter when you're freezing." She quipped.
Cynyr smirked evilly. "Too bad you can shift into a fur coat." Taranis blinked wide-eyed before jumping off his shoulder to sit on a chair by herself.
