A dark-haired young woman leaned against the rail of a ship, staring at the rolling waves that had become so familiar after the past couple months. Really, she was nothing special… if you left out the fact that she had silver skin and dark tiger-like markings here and there. Brushing a loch of hair from her face, she looked at the horizon, and once more saw the ever-growing smudge that she hoped was land. Being cooped up that long on a ship at sea most certainly did not suit her… sure, she had had tasks to do like any other person onboard, but still… she wasn’t sure how she had been convinced to get on.
More towards the evening, they were finally docking in a port in a good-sized fishing town. Oh! She couldn’t wait to get off the ship. And the Shapeshifter nearly did, but, instead, she waited near the ramp that would let them get ashore, the sun reflecting in her eyes. One of the things she most definitely would not miss was the close proximity that had practically been enforced on everyone onboard. She had basically ended up going in whatever part of the ship that had the least amount of people in it, but, once she got there, she found herself restless. Being on the move for so long and then sitting still for a while all of the sudden didn’t really go over well for her.

Silently, a young man trailed behind others as they disembarked from the ship. Sun bleached white hair shimmered faintly in the sunlight as golden eyes glittered in amusement. His gaze went upwards as he stared at the shape shifter’s form. He knew that she hadn’t seen him get off, for he had made sure to dodge her gaze, but perhaps there was the chance that she had noticed him. All in all, he didn’t truly care. He had convinced her to join him, and that was good enough for him. The experience on the ship had been rather pleasant, for him at least. Surrounded by water, and his natural element on all four sides, he couldn’t have asked for a better vacation. But he knew that his companion had other thoughts in her head. Her thoughts probably turned to the ‘if you ever take me on one of those things for that long again… I’m strangling you.’ But it was amusing just the same.
Raising his arms and locking his fingers behind his head, the wind demon leaned backwards, the wind supporting him gently. The constant traveling was the only thing he actually enjoyed, but this break, he knew he had needed it. What he had probably loved the most was that there were no people constantly commenting on him and the shifter being a couple. He had been ready to knock the next person who dared mutter those words out. It was bad enough that they didn’t seem to get along when they were even the faintest bit annoyed with each other, but that was their relationship, a constant struggle between being nice, or trying to get the other into too much trouble. The love that they shared was probably more of a brotherly and sisterly bond, but never would they admit it out loud.
“Hey Ashyzai! If you want to stay on that ship for another few months, that’s fine with me, but I’d like to go into the market first!” He called out, the wind taking his voice to her ears. But, he had something else planned with the wind also. Instead of merely bringing his voice along, he allowed the wind to wrap around her slim frame and give her a faint push. Whether she fell or not would all depend on how much attention she was paying to her surroundings. But, it would be rather pleasant to see the outcome of such a small act.

As she was waiting for Falreidir to get off the boat, Ashyzai was leaning against the railing, her back turned to the dock. It was only when she heard someone call her name that she realized that the Wind Demon had managed to sneak off without her noticing. “Are you kidding?!” Was all she managed to say before she felt the wind wrap itself around her and push her backwards. Of course, the fact that she had her back to the outside of the ship and had turned her head to look at Falreidir didn’t help her balance, so, lucky her, the Shapeshifter gracefully bent backwards, her eyes going wide as she tried to keep herself from going any farther, and finally fell backwards over the edge of the ship.
SPLASH!
Ashyzai had been lucky she didn’t hit the dock or the boat, but she was still going to have the Wind Demon’s head for knocking her overboard. Once she had come back to the surface of the water, she tried to find a way to climb onto the dock, but you guessed it, she couldn’t see any. “Falreidir!” She yelled angrily, pushing wet strands of hair out of her face as she tred water. Sure, she could dry herself off once she got out of the water, but getting out of the water was the problem.

Falreidir in question had watched as Ash tipped ‘elegantly’ backwards, as though she had decided to dive into the water herself. The only way someone would have known that someone else had pushed her was by the priceless expression upon her face. Her eyes had widened, and he followed her with his gaze as she went downwards, ever so downwards and splashed into the water. This caused the largest of grins to form upon his face. He chuckled faintly, shaking his head ever so slightly. She should have guessed that he would have done something like that, and, yet, he still placed an innocent look upon his face as he turned his back to her and walked a bit away from the edge so that she wouldn’t see him laughing at her.
The wind demon snickered as he heard his name being yelled and couldn’t help but wait a few moments before walking over the edge with a look of utter innocence. “Why yes Ash? Gee, how did you get down there!?” he exclaimed, a look of mock shock upon his visage as he winked at her. He waved his wrist gently, and strands of air wrapped around her, lifting her out of the water, messing up her hair and drying her off all in one swift movement as it gently placed her upon the ground. He knew she was angry at him. He could see her anger radiating off of her. Scary…
Walking towards her slowly, the wind demon smirked. “You called, beloved?” He joked calmly, before he burst into a fit of laughter. She just looked too funny, and he had gotten a reaction out of her, like every other time that he did something like that. It was quite amusing. Now all he had to do was survive. She had yelled his full name, and this meant trouble.

Before she caught sight on Falreidir’s ‘innocent’ face, Ashyzai could hear someone laughing. She should have known… Of course, why had she thought that he might actually not pull a prank this one time? Fal was Fal… as incorrigible as ever. “Oh, I don’t know… I think a good friend of yours decided to push me.” The Shapeshifter answered in a sweet voice, though the word ‘push’ was rather cold, giving him a very annoyed look. “I believe you two talk quite a bit.” She continued in that same sweet voice, though there was quite the undercurrent of anger in it.
Once Fal had decided that she should be set down on the dock instead of being left to hang in mid air, she raked her black hair a few times with her fingers before deciding that it would take a heck of a lot less time to merely shift it back to the way it was. That done, she crossed her arms and fixed the Wind Demon with piercing blue eyes, clearly not amused. However, that pose didn’t last long. “I’m not your beloved.” She said, and then swiftly whacked him upside the head. “You might want to run.” She suggested. Oh, she’d get him… but where was the fun in getting him if he didn’t have a head start?

Fal heard the coldness within his friend’s voice and sighed internally, knowing that she would be angry towards him for a few days to come. But he had only meant it as a large joke and her being a shifter, he thought that she would have shifted into something before hitting the water, but there were many surprises that were bound to happen. “Oh, you mean the wind?!” He asked innocently as he smirked faintly. “Gee, if only I had known, I would have asked him to catch you!” The wind demon continued, but his hyper tone dropped. She wasn’t happy, and he would have to survive another day with a ticked off shape shifter. She had to lighten up some time soon, or it was going to drive him mad!
As he saw her shift again, he couldn’t see what the big problem was. He had often pushed her over the edge of the ship, and before, they had sometimes just laughed it off. It was friendly rivalry between them, nothing more, and nothing less. As she hit him, he accepted the blow, yet instead of running away like she had recommended, he merely looked her into the eyes and smiled faintly. “I’m not going to run, Ashyzai… If you want to hit me, do so.” He said softly, knowing in his mind that he deserved it. He wouldn’t complain, or at least, not yet. As long as it would make her half-happy again, it mattered not.

“Who said I wanted to hit you? I did already, didn’t I?” Ashyzai said, fighting off the urge to smile back. “Maybe I felt like chasing you for once.” The Shapeshifter continued. A good run actually wasn’t that bad of an idea; she needed to stretch her legs after being on that boat for so long, especially when there wasn’t exactly enough space for that on the deck… Despite the fact that she still wanted to hit Falreidir, she didn’t. How many times had he done that to her since she had met him? Let’s just say that she lost count a long time ago.
It was at that moment that she decided that that idea was so good, that she would act upon it. So, she took off at a run, not really caring in which direction she was going, as long as it led her off the dock and to somewhere more open. “Come on!” She yelled to the Wind Demon, then turning her face back to the front so she could see where she was going. And if Fal decided that he wanted to use the wind to his advantage, well, two could play at that game. She could always shift into something that moved faster.

Falreidir smirked calmly as she spoke to him, but he merely rolled his eyes. He knew Ashyzai too well to know that she wanted to hit him, despite her act in trying to make him believe otherwise. He didn’t reply right away, merely gazing at her with knowing eyes. They almost said ‘enough with your lies Ash, I know how you think… oddly enough’. He smirked again, shaking his head as he tried to read her, wanting to know what she thought and how she was reacting in her mind. But, it was just like Ash to be thinking of running, when both of them clearly knew that they each had sailor legs.
He watched her dash off and hung his head faintly. Great… Now I need to follow Miss ‘I can shape into anything I want to be able to allow myself to run faster!’… he thought to himself as he dashed off right after her. He knew she just wanted to be away, and it really didn’t matter where that away was. The feeling was actually mutual for once. “I’m coming… I’m coming!” he called out, for the first two words had only been muttered. The wind demon decided against asking his good friend for help. He had to learn how to run again, on solid ground, anyway.

Ok… So, maybe going for a run wasn’t such a good idea… Ashyzai thought, noting how the ground still felt odd under her feet as she tried to not stumble or trip over her own feet or anything else that she ran by. Nope… definitely not, but maybe they would get used to the ground faster this way. When she heard Falreidir call back to her, she smiled, though she just concentrated on staying on her feet. Well, that was until she saw a dead end up ahead. Great… it was just her luck to find the only dead end.
So, stopping as fast as she could, Ashyzai turned right around and started running in the opposite direction, and went right passed the Wind Demon, waving. “See ya!” She said. Well, leave it to her to find what was probably the only dead end. At least this time she was hopefully going the right way to get the heck out of the docking area.
This isn’t so bad… I mean, I haven’t tripped on anything yet… She thought as she ran, dodging people and crates now, making the task of staying upright a little harder… At least the ground didn’t feel as if it were swaying and heaving as much as it had when the Shapeshifter had first gotten off the boat. Well… gotten out of the water. Then, wouldn’t you know it; she stumbled on a stray rope. Ok… just as long as I don’t do that again, I think I’ll be fine… Thought Ashyzai, taking her little stumble in stride. This is when all that time tramping through the wilderness comes in handy… You tend to not fall as much.

The wind demon continued to dash after, feeling as though he was going to stumble forward at any minute and try to race the ground downwards. Ugh… He hated when she did this to him… When she made him run right after getting off a ship, but the ironic thing was that it was she that usually paid the price. Who ever was in lead, was bound to get hurt. But it was her choice, and he would do nothing but follow. Allow her to lead for a while, it was nice to be able to ‘lay back and relax’, or at least, as much as one could relax while rushing after a Shapeshifter at top speed.
As he noticed her rush by him, instantly the words ‘dead end’ came to his mind. It was just like her to get them into this sort of predicament, yet instead of merely stopping he raced right towards the wall and used the wind to lift him as he ran up the wall and flipped, turning around in midair. He had to love his fancy tricks when the wind was involved. But all he had to do was have a bit of patience, and all this would be over. He sent the wind forward, to warn him of where she was heading, and finally caught trace of her as he pushed himself to run faster. He had the wind on his side, and she well… didn’t.
Where the heck is she leading us?! He thought to himself as he raced along, almost crashing into someone a few times. “Sorry!” He called over his shoulder, just to look forward and make the wind push him out of the way of a horse. How he hated racing through town streets. The wild was so much more welcoming to him, it allowed him to be able to have a good time, and not risk being someone’s hooves supper!
He noticed the ropes in front of him and leapt over it, knowing that Ash had passed this way by the way they were messed up. If only that shifter could gather her bearings and lead them properly through this place. It would be so much easier. But no, they had to be running like chickens without heads through random streets and learning how to stay upon their feet, AND survive the maniacs that rode horses… Great… This is just her way of having fun, but not even I got us into this much of a challenge! He thought to himself as he continued running after her, catching the white-one in sight. Well, it would only be up to who could stay upon their feet the longest, for if she fell, he was going down right after her…

As she continued to race along, Ashyzai noted that she was no longer running on planks of wood. This was good. She knew she could trust her great sense of direction… Well, she couldn’t say that it was totally useless… It seemed to decide to kick in every now and then. While she ran, things just flashed by her, not that she was really making a point of looking in which direction she was going as long as it didn’t involve crashing into something or someone.
However, she was forced to come to an abrupt halt when she came up to some sort of traffic jam. How the heck could there be a traffic jam in such a small place?! There practically wasn’t enough things in here to cause traffic, much less stop everything because someone made a mistake in which way they were going. Either way, there was still the problem of the rather large wagon blocking her way. Quickly, so as not to have an all too familiar crash involving Fal running into her, she shifted into a light brown cat and scooted underneath the wagon before it moved and she got crushed.
Having the perspective of a cat was quite interesting. Not only did some things seem to pop out more, but you were much lower down and you had to watch out for not only horses… but people’s feet. It wasn’t fun getting stepped on… It had happened only too many times when she was young. It was whenever she decided that she wanted to shift into something small and then go exploring. Yep… The Shapeshifter knew that she had some strange quirks, but who didn’t? Hers were just a bit more… wild? Eccentric? Now… all she had to do was find someplace where she didn’t run the risk of getting crushed by someone, and she would be good.

Falreidir felt the planks of wood suddenly disappear from under his feet also and let out a sigh of relief. Well solid ground was a good thing for now, that was all he knew. As long as he knew that he didn’t have to fear falling off the edge and into the water again, everything would be just perfect… but, there was this odd sense that Ash had no idea where she was going… and it wouldn’t stop nagging at him. She had never truly led anything before, she had usually followed him, allowing him to do the wrong choices, and if something went right, she took the credit. But that was Ash, and he couldn’t help but grin as he thought about her. There would never be another one like her.
He continued to dash at a breakneck speed as he noticed that something wasn’t right up ahead of him. He knew that he shouldn’t have decided to follow her, for this roadblock seemed to be gigantic. There was simply no running around such a jam. Instead, a malicious idea came to mind and he continued to run forward as he used the wind to gather more speed. As the wagon came up in front of him, he didn’t slow down but continued to run as he used the wagon’s wheel as a footstool and threw himself high into the air, the wind lending him wings. He practically soared over the top of the wagon before landing once more on his feet again, and he knew that Ash had taken her own personal way to get around it. She wasn’t as creative as he… Or at least, that was what he would say as a joke.
Sending the wind forward, he continued his mad dash, until the wind warned him of her presence, very low to the ground. And sure thing, here, not too far in front of him, was a brown cat, which he would run into… Ash… He knew it was her; he almost always crashed into her when he was running recklessly. He bent his body forward as he approached the feline and swiped her off her feet as he cradled her within his arms for a moment. “Nice to see you in one piece Ash!” He laughed as he continued to run, until they had reached the town limits. Here, he dropped her to the ground and looked down at her. Waiting for her to turn humanoid again, and if she didn’t feel like it, he was dragging her by her tail.

Just as she thought that she had found a good place to stop, Ashyzai felt someone grab her around her middle, and hold her in their arms as they ran. ‘I’ll have to remember to get myself cut into tiny pieces next time.’ She said to Fal, once she had realized it had been he who had picked her up and not some random kid. At least he wasn’t someone who didn’t know how to hold an animal. Then again, he’d probably had lots of practice since the first time she had done this to him. If it weren’t for the fact that he was running as he was carrying her, the shifter could have probably drifted off to sleep, but she wouldn’t admit that to him. Over her dead body.
Once they had reached the city limits, Ashyzai was about to jump away from the Wind Demon, but he had also dropped her, so it turned out to be a half fall, half jump thing… Either way, like any feline, she landed on her feet, though she was debating whether or not she wanted to take her usual form. ‘Touch the tail and I’ll bite you.’ Was all she said. Evidently, this shifter didn’t want to budge. In any way. Well, if he forced her to get moving, there wasn’t much she could do about it. Not that she had anything against getting on the move again, but she had been enjoying herself before Fal had scooped her up.

The wind demon merely shook his head as he looked at her, a smile dancing across his lips. He knew that she didn’t want to move. She was getting that stubborn air. So he gently picked her up again. “Come on, miss lazy.” He joked around softly as he cradled her within his arms again, petting her ever so softly. “I’ll carry you for a while.” He laughed as he started to head out. “Then you get to carry me!” He joked, as he winked at her. He was in high spirits, as usual. The talkative one once again.
His strides were smooth as he padded along the road, petting her gently, doing it on purpose to try and make her comfortable. He couldn’t help it, for last time he had done this, she had fallen asleep. It was rather funny when she awoke, not wanting to open her eyes… Or at least, that had been until she realized that he had been carrying her. He had never seen her wake up so fast in all his existence. But then again, he didn’t truly blame her. Who would want to wake up within his arms anyway?! Running his fingers through her fur, he kept his eyes upon the road, not saying a word more. No words needed to be spoken, she would understand his silence better than any one else.

‘Miss lazy?’ Ashyzai repeated as she was once again picked up into that stupid comfortable position. Again. ‘The one time I actually don’t want to move, and you call me lazy…’ She continued with a sigh, rolling her eyes. She didn’t reply when Fal said she’d get to carry him later. It wasn’t as if she hadn’t before… But still, unless they were somehow found and recognized by the Council’s soldiers. Yeah… then they’d either be on the run or trying to fight them off.
It didn’t take long after the Wind Demon started stroking her that Ashyzai started drifting. This might be the only downfall at being a cat. She was easy to put to sleep in this state. ‘Are you purposely trying to put me to sleep?’ She asked sleepily as Falreidir walked along, petting her, and holding her in that stupid comfortable position. Maybe that was why she didn’t like to be carried…
As she waited for the Wind Demon to answer her, the thought of actually staying where she was crossed her sleepy mind. I’d better not… She thought almost regretfully, beginning to move slightly. It really wasn’t the best idea to stay… The shifter didn’t want to repeat the scene that had occurred when she fell asleep last time.

He chuckled softly as she commented, and merely shook his head, continuing his gentle strokes. Ah well, he was allowed to tease her, and he certainly had done his fair share of teasing while he knew her, yet it mattered not. “I’m only joking… don’t worry about it.” He smirked, as he watched her start to drift off again. Ah well, this was her weakness. All he had to do was rub her back, and she would be as supple as a kitten. The thoughts made him grin faintly, though he didn’t laugh like last time. He knew that she would only jump out of his arms if he did so.
“I’m not trying to make you fall asleep, but to allow you to be more comfortable in this horrible position.” He said softly, his voice barely above a whisper. He could be rather evil at times, especially when he knew that she probably wanted him to make some loud noise to wake her up, or snap her out of her daze. But no, he wasn’t going to fall into the trap this time. No way was he going to just allow her to have her way. And she hadn’t gotten much sleep on the ship, from what he knew. She despised all the crowded places… And let’s just say sleeping on deck wasn’t pleasant.
“Don’t worry about it, rest.” He laughed, knowing that she was trying to convince herself to move. He knew when she was comfortable, just the way she seemed to sink into his hold. It was rather amusing, yet Falreidir wouldn’t try to disturb her, despite popular beliefs. Gently his fingers caressed her fur, as he started massaging her behind the ears and on her nape. Let’s see if she could ignore this! For all she knew, he was trying to put her to sleep, but she needed it, and he was faintly worried about her. If they got attacked, she may not have enough energy to last a full battle, for everyone knew how long their battles could last…

You and your ‘joking’… Thought Ashyzai. Why was it that she simply didn’t shift back into her usual form? Well… being half asleep certainly didn’t help, but still… she just had to admit it to herself. She just didn’t want to move, despite the fact that she knew she would have to to avoid being put to sleep. Oh, how she hated feeling so vulnerable… Well, being vulnerable, actually. The saddest part was that she knew that Falreidir knew which buttons to push to keep her that way. Oh, he could be so cruel at times… Not in the meanest sense of the word, but… You get the idea.
‘Well… then don’t…’ The Shapeshifter replied, though it was more of a mumble than anything. She had given up trying to get herself to move. Her mind was telling her one thing, but her body just didn’t want to cooperate. She just needed something sudden to happen… like a jolt or something. But, by now, her mind was so fogged up by drowsiness, that she couldn’t think straight anymore, except for the fact that she knew she was comfy and she didn’t want to go on another boat or ship for a very long time.
‘What… are… you doing…?’ Ash asked, barely keeping her eyes open and actually began to purr softly when Falreidir began massaging her behind her ears and at the nape of her neck. Oh, he definitely was trying to put her to sleep now… the accursed Wind Demon had probably taken it into his mind when she had asked him earlier. However, it wasn’t long until she fell completely asleep, curled up in a ball of brown fur in Falreidir’s arms, still purring slightly. At least he wouldn’t have to worry about her form changing in her sleep… She tended to stay in the same shape when she was enjoying something in her sleep. Disorientation could wait until later. The wind demon merely watched her, his smile soft as he noticed her give in to the weakness. He had expected no less at all. Her mind often tried to tell her things, but whether she listened to them or not was another matter. He should know… They got into so much trouble, and despite popular beliefs, it hadn’t always been his fault. He didn’t bother talking to her, since he knew his voice, no matter how soft would wake her up. Instead, he merely shifted her gently, into a better position on his arm and continued to pet her as he set down the road, knowing that after this, his arm was going to be asleep.
Deciding it was best to walk through the forest, where they didn’t risk meeting into anyone too loud, he went off course and started walking through the trees. Despite the rocky path, his movement was still smooth, and he didn’t bounce her around. But listening to the soft sounds of the forest, it would keep anyone asleep! Too bad he didn’t just laid down and slept himself, but if he stopped, she would know. So, he would merely continue walking until she woke up. Well, now to count down the hours until she would wake up again, no one would know how long that would take!

It wasn’t until quite some time later that Ashyzai moved on her own again. It wasn’t much, but her tail had begun twitching and she had shifted a bit, slowly waking up. Really, she didn’t want to… It was so nice and warm where she was… that was when she remembered that Fal had managed to put her to sleep. Again! She really shouldn’t have let him carry her… She was capable of walking, after all. Through her closed eyes, she thought that it was evening, seeing as she couldn’t tell whether or not there was a lot of light outside. How long had she been sleeping?! Yep… the Wind Demon had every right to call her ‘Miss Lazy’ now… How could I have slept the day away? She asked herself as she tried to stretch the sleepiness out of her muscles and not slip in the crack between Fal’s arm and him.
Once she had actually opened her eyes, though, she was met with the expected disorientation. Where were they? She didn’t remember trees when she fell asleep… Leave it to Falreidir to choose to do something like this. ‘Have a nice walk?’ She asked, yawning. ‘Am I allowed to get up now?’

The wind demon felt her move, yet he didn’t pay her much attention, his fingers still playing with her fur as he looked at the sky through the trees, seeing sunset coming. How long had they been walking for? He merely shrugged faintly and continued on his way, his pace still his casual ‘slow’ rhythmic pace… yet in anyone else’s eyes… It was rather fast. He felt her stretch and looked down at her, a grin on his face. Well, she was finally waking up, it had taken long enough… But it was his fault that she had probably slept so long, so, he wasn’t going to even mention it at all. There was truly no use in trying to tease her about it, she would merely become all hissy and defensive, and throw the blame on him. Like every other time. Would she ever admit that he did her the odd favor now and again? Or did she still have her mind set that he was absolutely useless in her life? He didn’t know which one he preferred.
Falreidir noticed her eyes peek open and smirked, a soft chuckle escaping his lips. Welcome to tree land! Well, this was going to be rather amusing, knowing that she knew not where they were. That she was probably only hoping that he had a good idea where they were walking. If she was counting on him, that is. “Yeah, the walk was nice, perfect scenery, you know?” Fal spoke softly, his voice still having that ‘I’m-not-going-to-be-too-loud-to-wake-you-up’ air to it. She was probably cursing him by now, but, it was her choice, not his. If she really wanted to move, or if she really had wanted to get up, all she had to do was shift.
He scratched her chin faintly and allowed his arm to drop to his side. “If you want to get up Ash, since when have I stopped you from doing so?” He inquired faintly as he tilted his head towards her, a smile dancing across his lips. He was in a rather good mood, and no one could truly blame him. Not when he knew that he had gotten his friend comfortable, lazy and reluctant to get up, all at the same time. Not to mention that to her, they were probably lost… if he knew her correctly. “But if you want to stay lying down, you are welcome to do so… My arm isn’t fully asleep yet.” He joked faintly as he continued on his way. Yup, of course, he was having the most pleasant time.

‘Yes, it was, wasn’t it?’ Ashyzai replied sarcastically. Like she would know what the scenery was like while Fal walked and she was sleeping. ‘Do you have to do that?’ She asked, hitting him with a paw, though the blow wouldn’t do much… it would seem more like a tap to him. He always had to use that stupid quiet voice when he was either trying to get her to sleep or when she was waking up. She really shouldn’t use this shape anymore… She would admit to herself that she had slept well, but where was the problem with her sleeping at night like any other person?
I gotta get up… The shifter thought as she looked around a bit at their surroundings some more. ‘You might not have directly stopped me from getting up earlier, but you didn’t want to let me either.’ She replied, bunching up her muscles and jumping to the ground, shifting in midair to her usual form. “Your arm’s done enough for one day, don’t you think?” She said as she rubbed the sleep away from her eyes. Once she had gotten her bearings a bit better, Ashyzai started walking, elongating her steps to match Fal’s a bit better and her paces a bit faster so she wouldn’t fall behind. That was when she actually noticed the sun’s position in the sky. Great… he had let her sleep all day. At least her sense of time was a lot better than her sense of direction. Well, she didn’t actually really use her sense of direction much; she usually didn‘t need to.
“Great, now I’m going to be up all night.” Ashyzai said with a sigh. It wasn’t that she minded being up all night, but messing with one’s sleep cycle like that would make it that she would become nocturnal. Well, not really, but it would take a while until she wasn’t tired in the day and not at night. “Are you still set on visiting home?” The Shapeshifter inquired. Sure, they hadn’t been there in a while, but it had been even longer since she had visited her own family. They usually went to his when they dropped by for a few days. Knowing her own family, they probably wouldn’t be too happy about this, but they would more than likely get some… odd ideas about her traveling with Falreidir. Yep… if they thought Ashyzai was eccentric and all that, her parents were far worse. As long as they didn’t somehow run into her parents, they would be fine… There was more than one reason why she had never told the Wind Demon where she lived, though her family was the main one. Falreidir merely listened to her and shook his head. Of course she would be going on and on and on again about what he had done. But seriously… If she wanted to sleep so badly tonight, all she had to do was transform into a feline. It was all she did was sleep in that form! He didn’t know one day, when she was in that form, that she didn’t doze off. They were either resting in the sun, lying by the fire, or her in his arms… She always managed to drift off. Cats were lazy. He wouldn’t tell her that to her face though, but he knew to keep his thoughts to himself. She would only hit him if he mentioned them out loud. She would certainly make him regret his thoughts after saying something like that. Ah well, it would only be a matter of time before he teased her again.
“Sorry about that Ash, but you appeared to be in a large need of a good few hours of sleep.” He said sincerely as he bowed his head, hiding a grin on his face. “And you didn’t seem to mind that much, especially not while you were stretched out on my arm.” He added with a shrug. What was he supposed to do if he wasn’t helping his friend? Ah, it didn’t matter. He knew that she would get over it sooner then later anyway. He slowed down his pace though, not wanting to make her walk too fast, especially not after just waking up. Fal would at least give her a bit of time to readjust to walking before just darting off as he usually would. It wouldn’t kill him to wait a bit and relax. It certainly should have been on his to-do list, but, he had fun watching her squirm.
“Just turn into your cat form, you’ll fall asleep easily that way. I’ll even pet you if I have to.” He laughed, knowing that she wouldn’t want him to do so. But, it was one way to make sure that she fell asleep, and that way worked rather well also. He didn’t need to worry about anything, as long as he didn’t tick her off. Yet, as she mentioned her question about going back home, he nodded. “Yeah, I think I will go back home for a bit. It will be nice to see my family again, and we haven’t been there in at least two centuries. And who knows how long it will take before the Rebels call us back on the job. Some people have to teach the council their lesson.” He smirked. He seriously didn’t like the councils, but who did? They were too boring, and too restricting. Fighting and action consisted of most of the Wind demon’s life, at least, if he wasn’t traveling. And when there wasn’t a fight going on around somewhere, something was wrong.

((Bleh… sorry…))
“Yeah, yeah… I know…” She said. Ashyzai knew that she had needed the sleep. Catching a few hours sleep here and there for two months wasn’t good for you, but you got used to it real fast, and then you didn’t realize how tired you actually were until you were ready to drop dead. “You make a comfortable pillow, though.” The shifter said, a smile dancing on her face. Yep… that he did. Ash figured he knew it since he had managed more than once to get her to sleep at odd hours of the day when she made the mistake of shifting into a feline form, and, well, she wanted to tell him. As Falreidir slowed his pace, Ashyzai slowed hers as well. Walking that fast when you were awake but your mind was still in the process of it wasn’t very wise…
As the Wind Demon mentioned that she had only to shift into a cat again if she wanted to sleep, Ash merely shrugged. Why should she care any more? Losing a night’s sleep wasn’t that bad. It wasn’t like she hadn’t run on absolutely no sleep before. “I have to agree with you there. They think they know what’s best, yet they don’t take the time to look at what really matters.” She said as if she hadn’t heard Fal mention the fact that they hadn’t been home in about two hundred years.

He tilted his head and looked at her, cocking his brow faintly. She thought that he made a good pillow. Well, things would only become more and more shocking by the moment. She often surprised him with her words, not that he ever allowed it to show or anything. But she said the oddest things, and well… he couldn’t always comment about it. So instead, he merely shrugged and continued forward, his gaze upon the ‘path’ ahead of him. He loved walking through the forest; he always led people on the oddest of goose chases. Oh well, if they survived the path, they could survive pretty much everything when he decided to ‘lead the way to somewhere safe’. Luckily for them, he didn’t think this path to be ‘safe’ but rather to merely get them somewhere. It didn’t matter in how many pieces.
“You don’t want to go home do you?” He stated with a soft chuckle as he looked over his shoulder at her. He merely rolled her eyes at what she said about the council. He had expected no less from her, but still… It was rather amusing to listen to her talk about them. It wasn’t as though they didn’t like the council… they merely weren’t good ‘friends’ but they were rather ‘acquainted’. They had caused enough trouble thanks to encountering the council on a bad day. Oh well, it still mattered little. “I don’t think it is that they don’t take time to see what really matters… They just have different beliefs.” He stated with a faint shrug. Oh well, today was just another casual day.

“I never said that.” Ashyzai answered, though she wasn’t exactly 100% behind the decision of visiting home, but there wasn’t any reason why she shouldn’t, so the Shapeshifter would merely follow her friend there. It wasn’t as if she had anything to fear or that there was something keeping her from doing so anyway. “Would you really still consider Novience home, Fal? I mean, we’re almost never there, always on the road.” She said after a moment, though she knew part of the reason. Falreidir probably still considered it home because that’s where his family was, and she couldn’t say that that wasn’t the reason why she referred to it as home as well. It was nice, sometimes, to have a place to go back to, but the way they traveled, Ashyzai felt like they could probably do that just about anywhere, really.
“To each their own beliefs, then.” The shifter said, shrugging in turn. It was a wonder that the Council didn’t question themselves on why the Rebels even existed if their rule was supposed to be ‘perfect’. What did they tell themselves? That it was merely some small band of malcontents? Well, these malcontents were starting to get a little louder over the years, not to mention more numerous. “How long do you think this little ‘vacation’ will last?”
