A young light demon sat on a rock at one of the expansive beaches, his light cotton shift rippling in the wind as he stretched out. The sunlight beat down on him, and he enjoyed every moment of it, soaking it up like a sponge. The feeling of power that it restored in him was wonderful after long days of healing people. His joy was practically radiating off of him as he lay on that rock, lulled by the pounding waves and warmed by the sun. Everything was perfect.
The sound of little feet pattering against sand caused Esryn to look up; he was used to such interuptions -- the people of his Island always needed his help. There, running towards him was a little girl, a panicked look on her face.
"Mister Esryn, Mister Esryn!" she called, waving her hand at him. He sat up, and dropped shoeless to the ground.
"Yes Erka, what is it?" She stopped running, panting in front of him.
"It's m'mother. She's sick awful bad Mister Esryn." The Light Demon nodded.
"Alright, I'll take care of her. Take me to her then." He swung the girl up onto his shoulders, earning a giggle from her, and started towards the village.

Silently another figure slid into step behind them, crimson eyes glowing faintly as he kept his distance, his eyes constantly upon the healer. He had been following this healer for some time now, watching, waiting, and seeking for the perfect moment where he would have the light demon on his own. Yet, it never seemed to happen. Whenever he caught sight of the demon, he was always with someone else. How could he continue the hunt, if he never even got the faintest hint that he may be able to get himself a prey? On the other hand, he knew that he wouldn’t give up. He had only been tagging him for three days now, it was nothing compared to his life time. And if he didn’t catch the light demon in one day, he would go after someone else. But, in the end, he would always return to track the light demon. The figure hissed in faint annoyance as he noticed the child upon his shoulders. He was heading into town again… This only made him sigh, and he knew that he would have to wait until nightfall; the demon would be weaker by then. But then, there would be no fun in hunting him. Everything was so complicated, but to be able to taste his crimson life, he would have to wait until he was weaker. It was all he could do. For now, he would merely have to satisfy himself in knowing that he was merely a shadow, following him in the distance.

((*giggles* awww, he's lustin-- I mean...hunting...¬.¬ Esryn! ^^ kawaii!))
Esryn felt the familiar shiver of being watched pass down his spine, and felt his skin twitch at the feeling. He had been getting this same feeling for the past few days, but had never found the source of his discomfort. He didn't like being watched, especially by someone he couldn't see.
"Mister Esryn?" cheeped the little girl, peering down at him. "Is everything okay?" Esryn grinned.
"Yup! Come on, let's go heal your mother." The pair disappeared into town.
It took him a few hours to heal the sick woman, taking breaks in between to step outside for a quick burst of sunlight, before retreating into the cool darkness of the hut. It was dusk by the time he emerged.
"Thank you mister!" called Erka at the healers retreating back. Esryn laughed and waved, before he started off towards the small hut he called his home. Not that he stayed there very long; the healer was always travelling. But, nevertheless, he was always pulled back here, to the Islands, his birthplace and 'home'. It was where his mother had died, so he kept coming back. And kept leaving. But he'd always return, and the people of the island knew this, so they caught him when he was there.
He paused in his walk to his remote home, and leaned against a tree, enjoying the feel of the last rays of the sun. A few moments peace was wonderful. People rarely came to find him after dark, since they knew his power was dwindling in the night.

((*laughs* You certainly love to twist my words around! Yesh, he is hunting Esryn… You silly lovable nutcase.))
Zairon had been sitting in a tree, his crimson eyes shut from the world as he waited for the light demon to emerge from the hut again. His patience seemed to be unending as he just sat there, feeling the sun crawl over his skin. How long would he have to wait until that dratted healer would finally come out once more? He would sometimes feel the familiar aura of the light demon, only to open his eyes and see him retreat back into the hut. How awfully annoying all this was. He knew that he still had to wait.
Words drifted through the wind and caught his undying attention, as slowly a crimson eye opened. The healer was leaving… So his mind had no lied when it had warned him of so. A faint smirk danced upon his lips as he slowly stood up in the tree. The hunt had begun once more.
He jumped out of the tree and landed silently upon the ground, his gaze ever following the healer, though he staid within the shadows. He appeared to be no more than an illusion, but this vampire meant business. He shouldn’t be taken lightly, for certainly, shining within his crimsoned gaze, was a certain need for blood, which could not be denied to him.
His footsteps were perfectly in tune with the healer’s, and as the man decided to lean against a tree, he calmly walked upon the other side of it, placing his foot against the trunk to support him, as he waited once more. Though this time, he wasn’t going to be a mere shadow, waiting for the right chance. The moment was coming, the sun was setting. It was time to make this game a tad more exciting.
“So, alone at last.” A smooth voice escaped as the vampire decided to break the silence. His gaze dropped towards the ground, before he raised his head, and looked sideways, focusing his senses to be able to hear any faint change within the light demon. Tonight, he wasn’t giving up with a mere miss.

((^^ You love me! Yay! *dances*))
Esryn was too easy going to be startled when the man finally emerged. He felt no fear towards him, only calm resolution as the sun sank lower. He let his eyes close, and a soft sigh escaped his mouth.
"Indeed. I assume you're the one that's been following me for the last three days?" he said, voice light and emotionless. If this man was what he thought he was, then he had very little hope of fighting against him; all he could do was hope that the vampire would find him dull, and leave him alone. He had people to attend to, surely this Vampire realized that, so he couldn't simply just let himself go. Were he unessential to the survival of this island, he would have given himself freely to the vampire. He had no other reason to live...except for the island.

The vampire chuckled darkly as the man spoke. He had expected no less from the light demon. He had guessed that the other had known that he was near for so long, but that he had never said anything. He wouldn’t be surprised if he knew exactly what he was too. But, that mattered little. He merely continued to concentrate on his aura, reveling in the power that the demons had when in their own element. “You could say that yes… So if you have noticed me, you know clearly what I am Esryn…” He stated calmly, as he opened up his eyes faintly, as they started to glow into the fading light. His attention jumped from one thing to another, and, yet, his mind staid focused upon the light demon, waiting calmly for the right moment. Tonight was going to be quite amusing, and the thoughts of fresh blood brought a smile upon his lips as his fangs gleamed faintly. Tonight was his night for crimson life.

Esryn nodded, and tilted his head to look at Zairon. "I do." He arched a brow lightly. "What I don't understand is why it took you so long to make your move." He pushed off the tree with his back, and started back down the path towards his hut. He wanted to be in his home when the Vampire drank his fill...so that the villagers wouldn't find him in the morning.

The vampire laughed cruelly as he pushed himself off the tree, following the light demon, the sound of his steps almost non-existent as he walked. “You could say that I don’t like large crowds…” He said softly, though he knew that the demon was merely walking towards his home. This one didn’t seem to fear, or put up much of a fight for that matter, and that was what ruined a lot of his fun. But alas, he needed blood, and whether he got it from a victim that was willing or a victim that wasn’t, it made little difference to him.

Esryn cast a cursory glance back at the vampire, but remained silent. It took only a few minutes before they arrived at his home, and he opened the door, pausing at the entrance. "I'd invite you in, but I don't think I get much choice in the matter." He slipped inside, and lit a few candles that he kept around, just for added strength during the night. He stripped off his shirt and pants, exchanging them for the lighter material he wore to bed.

Instead of walking directly into the hut, the vampire stood outside for a few minutes. His gaze flickered from one place to the next. This light demon wasn’t as fun as he had planned. There was no hunt, merely someone willing to die. But, he knew that he wouldn’t kill the light demon, it wasn’t in his way to kill. If he enjoyed their blood, he would merely hunt them down again. And if they held no interest to him, he would never return and search for another prey. Turning around, the vampire merely set his gaze towards the ever setting sun, and walked into the hut.
Crimson eyes traveled from one part of the room to another, noting the candles. The fire light gleamed within his bright eyes for a moment, and then, he looked away and headed towards the light demon, a faint grin on his face. “Remarkable, you don’t fear a vampire what so ever.” He said in that ever soft voice of his as he walked within the small shadows of the hut. “Or perhaps, I’m wrong; perhaps, it is merely death you don’t fear.” He said with a small dark laugh. It mattered not to Zairon, and, yet, he still had plenty of time until nightfall, when the darkness would shroud them with its comfort. He could wait an hour or so, perhaps less. He did have enough patience.

He shrugged his shoulders. "I have no reason to fear death, nor any reason to fear you. Something tells me that you won't kill me, merely take your fill and then leave." Something in his tone hinted at a shade of disappointment. "Tea?" He set a tea kettle over a small open fire in the middle of the room, and reached for two mugs. "But I am curious as to why you'd select someone like me. Surely I am no fun to chase, when I practically offer myself to you." He let his eyes flicker towards the vampire.

Zairon looked at the light demon in mere shock. His thoughts wandered swiftly as he merely stared at the other for a moment. Was he that easy to read? Was he truly as simple as an open book? He didn’t believe it to be so, but perhaps he was that easy. Perhaps everyone could read his intentions, and he had figured that barely an emotion showed upon his face. But his eyes glinted faintly as he noted the shade of disappointment in the other’s voice. Was he willing to throw everything away, so swiftly? What could be so wrong with this light demon to make him will to do so? Life had such a greater importance to the people who longed for it for most of their eternity. Yet the living, they sought ways to escape it, while the living dead sought ways to return to it. It truly was a rather sad cycle.
He shrugged as the other mentioned tea. Personally, he had never truly enjoyed the taste of it, yet it mattered little to him, when everything had lost most of the tastes that they had once earned, in his mind, long ago. Blood, crimson life, it was the only thing that could be considered tasteful in the vampire’s eyes. The metallic tasting liquid was also tinted with other tastes, which made it all the more interesting when he found someone that intrigued him enough for him to put up a hunt. More often then not, he put minimal efforts in searching for victims, yet on the rare occasion, when people, like the light demon, appeared, he would chase, and not stop until he caught them within his grasp.
The vampire merely smirked faintly. He should probably bring this mortal to near death, show him what it was like to have his life sucked out from his body, while being unable to fight back. He had been a victim like many others of a ravenous vampire. That vampire had no mercy or pity, all he counted on was surviving from one day to the next. Killing had been a pleasurable pastime for him, while torture was one large game. He wasn’t like that, he merely chassed people who intrigued him, and killed only when needed. “It is true, you are rather boring, no fun at all in chasing someone who offers themself to me either, yet you intrigue me.” Zairon spoke truthfully, his voice holding the minimum of emotion. "How?" Esryn wasn't looking at him, as the water in the pot began to boil, and he poured himself cup of tea. He added a bit of honey from a small container in his cabinet, then sat on the edge of his small cot of a bed. He lifted the mug to his lips, sipping it gently, before leaning forward so that his elbows were resting on his knees. He let his azure eyes flicker up to look at the vampire before him. "And you have yet to tell me your name, while you already know mine."

The vampire merely shrugged again, deciding against telling him why he felt that he was intriguing. It was for him to know, and for the light demon to never guess. So his silence shouldn’t be taken with a large amount of surprise. When the demon asked for his name on the other hand, Zairon looked down at the ground, seeming to ponder about actually revealing it to him. It was bad enough that the other could read him like an open book. Now he wanted to know his name also. Leaning faintly on the back of his heels, the vampire merely looked around again, before placing his gaze back upon Esryn. “My name…” He paused again, laughing faintly. “It’s Zairon.” He stated. It had been years since he had last given a living his name. He didn’t believe that they truly needed to know it.

He nodded, and sipped his tea again. "Zairon...." He rolled the name off his tongue a few more times, as if testing it out. "It's a nice name," he said with a gentle smile towards the Vampire. He ran a hand through his hair a few times, before he drained his teacup. He went over to the candles he had lit before, and blew them out, leaving them in darkness. He felt the weakness overcome him, and he slumped slightly against the wall of his hut. The sun had completely set outside by now, and the light demon was left feeling drained and empty.
Perhaps the gravity of the moment crept in on him now, and his pulse began to beat faster. He drew in a soft breath as his eyes adjusted in the dark, and tried to focus on the shadow that was the vampire in his home. Well? What was he waiting for?

Zairon looked at the light demon and raised a brow as he commented about his name, but he kept silent. As the light went out around him, he closed his eyes, embracing the darkness. The demon wouldn’t survive on his homeland, with only six hours of sunlight a day, and as they approached Verev, that light became dimmer and dimmer. His eyes glowed faintly in the dim light, as he looked at the slumped form of the man before him. He chuckled faintly at the weakness that happened to those who had to live within the light. It was rather amusing really, seeing what happened to them when everything got dark. Such power, and, yet, all energy was limited. Pity they couldn’t be stronger, their blood would be much better.
He could sense the other’s aura as he moved around the hut, his steps making the minimum of noise. Gently he walked towards Esryn, a faint grin upon his face as his fangs peeked through his lips. He could sense the demon’s raise in pulse, and it merely made him smirk. A soft laughter danced off his lips. Yes, they truly did amuse him, for when life would be merely an inch from leaving, suddenly it became much more precious. “What’s wrong Esryn, finally realizing what is going to happen to you? Are you afraid?” The vampire laughed his voice soft. He was rather close to the demon, yet not near enough to touch him. He kneeled gently upon the ground, only the movement of his traveling cloak hinting that he had changed positions. He closed his eyes, faintly, allowing the darkness to surround him, before opening them again. Mind games were always pleasant.

Esryn shook his head, blinking when he lost sight of the Vampire. "No," he said, voice light, yet firm. "I'm not afraid of you, or what you are going to do to me. What I am afraid of is the darkness." A shiver coursed down his spine as he spoke. "I don't like not being able to see." He let his eyes close, settling for complete darkness instead of the half-light inside the hut. "Tell me," he breathed, swallowing hard. "Do you always call your victims by their first name?"

The vampire smiled faintly, such a strong and powerful demon, fearing the darkness. A healer that could use his powers almost all day, he could only huddle and shrink away from the night, pity. “You should learn to accept the dark, for all its mysteries, it is rather beautiful.” He laughed coldly as he got a bit closer to the light demon. “And as for calling my prey by their first names, I usually don’t… For on most hunts, I never have a chance to learn them.” He said his he now lingered by the demons side. “Any more questions?” He inquired gently, ready to feed as he felt the ravenous hunger growing within him. He shook his head, and swallowed. "No. No more questions." He felt his pulse flare as he heard how close the vampire was, and he recognized now what was racing through his veins: excitement. He mentally berated himself for feeling such a thing when he was going to be drained of his life force...but he couldn't help it. The idea that something as powerful, as fluid, as graceful -- as beautiful -- as this vampire would choose him to feed off of was wonderfully enthralling, pulling him into the exictement of the moment. Oh, how he wanted this...

“As you wish, Esryn.” He spoke calmly, his voice soft, as though he was speaking from across the room, though the hint that foretold his closeness was his breath upon the other’s neck. “This shouldn’t hurt too much.” He stated as he felt a sudden rush of eagerness. He would finally gain the blood that he so wished to possess, and even if the demon had offered himself to him, it mattered not. In the end, he would have gotten it either way. It merely hurt the other one less, when he didn’t have to fight against them. Shifting positions faintly, and without any further warning, Zairon sunk his fangs into Esryn’s neck, eagerly sucking in the flow of life that rushed from the wounds that he had caused. All he had to do was remember : Do not kill.

There was a soft gasp as he felt the first puncture, before he felt his body lean ever so slightly towards the vampire. The pain ebbed away after a moment, leaving in its wake only...pleasure. His lips parted in a soft moan, and his eyelids fluttered a moment before his eyes opened again; he hadn't quite expected it to feel like this. He kind of expected it to be more painful, that he would feel his body start to fight against the vampire, not this willing surrender of himself to Zairon. He arched his neck to allow the other man an easier access to his pulse, and his eyelids flickered again.
As the blood drained from his body, he felt himself start to become slightly light headed, and the pleasure of the act increased; he couldn't understand why everyone was so afraid of the Vampires. He felt deliciously warm, and oddly enough -- safe -- here with Zairon. His body was moving of it's own accord now, and he felt his hands move towards the vampire's head to entangle in his hair, pulling him closer. He gasped softly, though it turned into another quiet moan as his back arched against the wall. Oh, Nine Hells...

Zairon’s sense heightened as he felt the warm essence of life rush down his throat. Yet as the demon give him easier access, he greedily accepted it, as he wrapped his arms around the other, pulling him closer to be able to feed with more ease. In his mind, he knew that he would have to stop soon, yet the demon tasted so delicious, so wonderfully exotic, compared to the tastes of the average mortal, that he wished not to stop, even if it meant risking the life of the one now within his grasp. But he knew he wouldn’t allow the demon to die, oh no. Not now that he knew that he tasted this exquisite. He would come back if his desire for the blood wasn’t quenched, but he certainly wouldn’t kill.
As Esryn pulled him closer, the vampire easily obliged, willing to accept what was so easily given to him. His senses listened to the light demon’s constant pulse, feeling it become weaker, but there was still no fear for him to die. The vampire held the demon closer as his eyes closed and he focused only upon the other’s life force, which was still gradually dwindling. His mind told him that he had to stop, and silently he opened up his eyes, and pulled back faintly. He gently lapped up the remaining of the blood with his tongue as he watched the wound close. But, he still didn’t say anything as he looked at Esryn, his crimson eyes glowing faintly.

For someone that should have been so cold, Zairon was so very warm, and Esryn whimpered softly as the vampire pulled back. His hands were still lost somewhere in the other man's hair, though they slipped to Esryn's side as the lack of strength sank into him. He struggled to keep his eyes open, and he turned his head to look at Zairon, meeting his gaze evenly. He didn't say a word, merely watched him, wondering what was going to happen next. Some part of him wanted to reach out and hold onto the vampire, forever, keeping Zairon all to himself, never letting him feed on another, never allowing another mortal the pleasure of this interaction between them. Even as he stood there, watching him, Esryn felt his body fighting back with the last ounces of power in him to restore the blood that was lost.
"Zairon," he whispered, perhaps a bit more breathily than he had meant, and his head rolled to rest against the wall behind him, eyes fluttering shut. He gave another soft moan, though this time not in pleasure, but in weakness. He hated feeling this way, so empty, and weak, and totally devoid of any strength to do something a simple as walk to his bed. But...he loved how he had been rendered completely unable to do anything by the vampire, loved the feeling of his teeth in his skin, the blood draining from him. He loved it.

As Esryn whimpered softly, the vampire raised an eye brow. He knew that this man had seemed to enjoy it, but knowing that having near death experiences were exciting for him, made the vampire smile faintly. He could sense the weakness within the other, yet he silently held his gaze, knowing that the light demon wanted to know that he was going to do. It was evident in his gaze, but what could he do. He had gotten what he wanted; there was nothing else that he could do.
He had been about to rise to his feet as he heard his name whispered and kept his eyes upon the demon. Silently, the vampire lifted Esryn in his arms, and carried him towards his bed. He flicked his wrist and the bed sheets were lifted neatly into the air by the wind, as he arrived by the bedside and rested the demon upon his bed. He allowed the blankets to fall and cover him as he looked towards the ceiling and flicked his wrist again. The candle lit up, and a few balls of fire floated in the air, surrounding the light demon to give him a bit more energy. “Rest, you need it.” He spoke gently. “You’ll be fine once you get a days rest and a bit of sunlight.” He continued before he stood up, his ever glowing eyes, turning away from the demon as Zairon took a step away from the bed, ready to rush into the night. Esryn gave a soft sigh as the Vampire settled him in bed. "Mmm," he murmured softly, before snapping his eyes open and pushing himself into a sitting position. "Wait, Zairon...." he said, his voice a bit anxious. "Wh...when will I see you again?" It was a whispered question, but he knew that the vampire would be able to hear him perfectly.
